A well-hit corner resulted in Enrico Brunetta heading the ball towards the goal, but to his dismay he misdirected it and missed the goal completely. After some careless play in the Goranesti defense, Pavel Ploieșteanu kicked a shot that curved into the net to the right of Hubert Villa. The Goranesti fans voiced their displeasure as they felt that Hubert Villa should have stopped the shot. In the 27th minute of the match, Pavel Ploieșteanu tried to roll the ball into the goal by the right post, but Hubert Villa saw his intentions and got control of the ball before it passed the line. In the 48th minute of the match, Enrico Brunetta got a very nice opportunity to score, but Hubert Villa was well-placed and pushed the ball away from the goal at the left post.
