Unfortunately, he received the ball on his off foot and could only manage a weak shot that went over the goal. With a couple of smart ball manuevers Bertil Ekman in the 13th managed to get into a good position. With a left leg Gunnar Jakobsson saved FK Crvena Zvezda from getting behind. White Hart Lane were awarded a corner in the 15th minute after FK Crvena Zvezda's defender lost control of the ball, allowing it to roll out over the line. Kenneth Söderqvist took the corner. The corner led White Hart Lane's Kenneth Söderqvist to fire away a dangerous shot which Gunnar Jakobsson despite some difficulties managed to get hold on the ball. FK Crvena Zvezda's Gunnar Jakobsson proved his good apprehension of play when he, in the 16th minute of the match, managed to save FK Crvena Zvezda from getting a goal against them. Bertil Ekman was extremely unlucky when he, in the 17th minute, took a shot that hit the right post and went out. With a little luck, FK Crvena Zvezda's Gunnar Jakobsson got control of the ball when Bertil Ekman tried to sneak it across the goal line. In the 21st minute, White Hart Lane's Bertil Ekman ran free of his marker and smoothly shot the ball into the goal behind Gunnar Jakobsson. Gunnar Jakobsson yelled at his defense, as they had left him out to dry. 2-0. When the match clock showed 26 minutes, the score became 3-0 when Bertil Ekman sped through FK Crvena Zvezda's defense and sent away a curving shot that went into the net to the right of Gunnar Jakobsson. Bertil Ekman received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 30th minute. Gunnar Jakobsson tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. Gunnar Jakobsson made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Bertil Ekman in the 34th minute of play. The referee was alert and spotted a serious foul by Folke Odeen during the 34th minute. The player immediately received a yellow card. With a little luck, FK Crvena Zvezda's Gunnar Jakobsson got control of the ball when Nicolas Gois tried to sneak it across the goal line. After some fancy dribbling in the 41st minute, Dick Wennerberg managed to get in a good position for a shot. White Hart Lane's supporters rose to their feet, but Dick Wennerberg was a bit off balance and shot the ball just wide of the left post. Gunnar Jakobsson breathed a sigh of relief and went to take the goal kick. Thanks to some nice foot action and superb ball handling Bertil Ekman in the 43rd minute a chance for a shot on goal. With an extended leg and a bit of luck Gunnar Jakobsson prevented the ball from getting in the gole. In the 46th minute, Bertil Ekman got an opportunity to score, but he didn't get a solid hit on the ball and ended up kicking it wide of the goal. No-one was surprised that the home team were leading 4-0 at half-time.

The players of the home team were most fresh-looking when they entered the field to play the second half. Claes Bratt was the one to do the kick off. FK Crvena Zvezda:s Gunnar Jakobsson showed great skill when he stopped Kenneth Söderqvist:s penalty. In the 55th minute, Kenneth Söderqvist made a precise shot to the right of Gunnar Jakobsson. FK Crvena Zvezda's defense was at fault, and the scoreboard reflected the new score, 5-0. Bertil Ekman's shot was meant for the net just under the crossbar, but Gunnar Jakobsson read the situation well and was quickly in position to make a wonderful save in the 58th minute of play. After 61 minutes, Claes Bratt mouthed his way into the referee's book. The tension between the FK Crvena Zvezda and the White Hart Lane players grew even worse after the yellow card. After a rather tough play, FK Crvena Zvezda's Claes Bratt got a free kick in the 61st minute. The audience was convinced that Jorma Jääskeläinen's extremely hard shot when he got free in front of the goal was going in, but Gunnar Jakobsson was relentless in the 63rd minute of the game. Eriberto Urtzi kicked well hit freekick during the 68th minute of the match. Gunnar Jakobsson didn't have a chance when a screaming shot from Kenneth Söderqvist went, in the 69th minute, to the upper right corner, 6-0 was the resulting score. Claes Bratt could have scored with his fast shot on goal in the 80th minute of the match, but Esbjörn Apelquist made a huge save. Gunnar Jakobsson showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Bertil Ekman in the 82nd minute of the match. 86 minutes into the match, FK Crvena Zvezda's goal looked a bit too open when Bertil Ekman came free, but Gunnar Jakobsson reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line.
