Ciriaco Chinto showed that you don't have to tear a hole in the net to score, 1-0. When Anastasio Nuno fell near the penalty area in the 14th minute he thought he would be awarded a free kick. The referee ignored C.A.Esparta's protests and gave Anastasio Nuno a yellow card for diving instead. Mauricio Tabor was in exellent shape and made a fantastic save when he, in the 15th minute of the match, managed to get hold of the ball after a long shot from Geovanni Carioca. Mercedes's attacker deliberately struck the ball against an opponent to win a corner for his team. The corner was taken by Geovanni Carioca in the 16th minute. After 21 played minutes Mercedes got a freekick which was hit by Csaba Nyitrai. Augusto Ellande took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Lino Arnau, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. After 25 minutes of play, Mercedes's Genaro Azibar made it 2-0 when he simply outclassed the defender marking him and hit a curling shot into the right side of the net. Mauricio Tabor was left in no man's land by his defense there! A collision led to Mercedes getting a freekick after 28 minutes play. Csaba Nyitrai hit a great ball. When Lino Arnau came up free with the goalie in the 29th minute, the C.A.Esparta fans jumped to their feet. But the shot missed the goal by a fraction of an inch, and the fans sat back down disappointed that Lino Arnau couldn't finish the play. After some fancy dribbling in the 34th minute, Manuel Morais managed to get in a good position for a shot. Mercedes's supporters rose to their feet, but Manuel Morais was a bit off balance and shot the ball just wide of the left post. Mauricio Tabor breathed a sigh of relief and went to take the goal kick. When the match had gone on for 39 minutes, Ciriaco Chinto put it in 4-0 from a short distance just to the right of Mauricio Tabor. Manuel Morais's shot was meant for the net just under the crossbar, but Mauricio Tabor read the situation well and was quickly in position to make a wonderful save in the 47th minute of play.

If Adolfo Silbestre had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 52nd minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. Mauricio Tabor was frozen by the shot and now it was 8-0. In the 66th minute, Manuel Morais made a precise shot to the right of Mauricio Tabor. C.A.Esparta's defense was at fault, and the scoreboard reflected the new score, 9-0. Mercedes's Jan-Ivar Nordmo was substituted for Manuel Morais. In the 73rd minute, Ciriaco Chinto made a precise shot to the right of Mauricio Tabor. C.A.Esparta's defense was at fault, and the scoreboard reflected the new score, 10-0. Mauricio Tabor showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Jan-Ivar Nordmo, who was totally free with the ball in the 85th minute. An unexpectedly hard shot by Ciriaco Chinto in the 86th minute of play forced C.A.Esparta's goalkeeper Mauricio Tabor to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. 92 minutes into the match, Ciriaco Chinto had an open shot that he just couldn't miss and scored to the right of Mauricio Tabor. C.A.Esparta's manager could be seen yelling to the referee that Ciriaco Chinto was offside, but the referee ignored the protest. 11-0. After having played for 96 minutes, Adolfo Silbestre managed to get in a good position for a shot on goal. C.A.Esparta's supporters crossed their fingers, but Adolfo Silbestre was, after a quick turn that froze the defenders, out of balance and shot the ball just to the right of the goal.
