After some careless play in the Sportivo Constitución defense, Pavel Balc kicked a shot that curved into the net to the right of Apolo Aguirre. The Sportivo Constitución fans voiced their displeasure as they felt that Apolo Aguirre should have stopped the shot. With a couple of smart ball manuevers Pavel Balc in the 27th managed to get into a good position. With a left leg Apolo Aguirre saved Sportivo Constitución from getting behind. The crowd rose to their feet as Sportivo Constitución's Norberto Theodore slotted home a wonderful shot that went in to the left of Dragomir Marchovski. That made the score 1-4 after 33 minutes of play. Dragomir Marchovski took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Raul Moise, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. 44 minutes into the match, Pavel Balc notched a goal, 1-5, to the right of Sportivo Constitución's Apolo Aguirre. Apolo Aguirre was clearly disgusted with the effort of the defense and let the defenders know about it. Even after changing tactics the home team jogged off the field with a 1-5 deficit. They would have to work harder if they wanted to turn things around in the second half.

Both teams looked relatively alert before the second half when the referee blew his whistle to tell Raul Moise to make the kick off.
