Sportivo Constitución's attacker deliberately struck the ball against an opponent to win a corner for his team. The corner was taken by Norberto Theodore in the 34th minute. A collision led to Sportivo Constitución getting a freekick after 34 minutes play. Raul Moise hit a great ball. Gordon Banks made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Raul Moise in the 36th minute of play. 37 minutes into the match, Sportivo Constitución's goalkeeper Apolo Aguirre had to clear away a ball on his right side after a cunning shot by Serafino Chinto. After 38 minutes, Basilio Evarado mouthed his way into the referee's book. The tension between the HFA FC and the Sportivo Constitución players grew even worse after the yellow card. In the 38th minute, Basilio Evarado hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. The crowd rose to their feet as Sebastian Turi kicked a wonderful shot that went in to the left of a diving Apolo Aguirre. That made the score 1-3 in the 43 minute of play. 46 minutes into the match, HFA FC's goal looked a bit too open when Arsenio Erico came free, but Gordon Banks reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. Alfonso Pacifico scored 2-3 in the 48th match minute with a shot that went into the goal to the right of Apolo Aguirre, who was just a little too slow in reacting to the shot. After the first half Sportivo Constitución were leading 2-3. They had played with great self confidence throughout the first half and fully deserved their lead.

The wind increased when Serafino Chinto made the kick off in the second half. Alfonso Pacifico recieved an excellent pass in front of the goal in the 67th minute. Unfortunately, he received the ball on his off foot and could only manage a weak shot that went over the goal. Sportivo Constitución made a substitution. Oscar Dimas replaced Hermengildo Etxatxu. An unexpectedly hard shot by Alfonso Pacifico in the 71st minute of play forced Sportivo Constitución's goalkeeper Apolo Aguirre to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. 77 minutes into the match, HFA FC's goalkeeper Gordon Banks had to clear away a ball on his right side after a cunning shot by Norberto Theodore. Sportivo Constitución's fans were overjoyed with their teams well-earned victory and stayed in the stadium long after the final whistle to celebrate the win.
