The shot was a little too simple and Allan Varela could save by the left post. Allan Varela showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Diego Maradona in the 27th minute of the match. After 27 minutes, Matias Bilintx made it 1-1 with a short kick to the right side. Palestra do Interior's Allan Varela tried to save the shot but he was too slow in reacting to the shot. In the 38thth minute of the game 韩默克 who was perfectly placed tried to make a shot on goal, but Sporting de Gijón's Óscar Cordoba was lucky and managed to grab hold of the ball. 44 minutes into the match, Palestra do Interior's goal looked a bit too open when Diego Maradona came free, but Allan Varela reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. After a defensive mix-up in Sporting de Gijón's zone, Romário Barbosa stole the ball and had only the goalie to beat. Óscar Cordoba came out of the goal and Romário Barbosa tried to chip the ball over his head. To his dismay, the ball went over the crossbar and out of play. After the first half the score was level. The break gave the players a chance to catch their breath, whilst the managers went over the tactics with them again.

In the 59th minute, 韩默克 ran past the defenders and hit a shot which went straight ahead into goal. Óscar Cordoba was frozen by the shot and now it was 1-2. Palestra do Interior made a substitution. Óscar Cordoba was clearly disgusted with the effort of the defense and let the defenders know about it. Óscar Cordoba stood for a superb save when he managed to get hold of Vitório Lago's shot from short distance in the 88th minute. 90 minutes into the match, Sporting de Gijón's goal looked a bit too open when Vitório Lago came free, but Óscar Cordoba reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. The audience was convinced that Vitório Lago's extremely hard shot when he got free in front of the goal was going in, but Óscar Cordoba was relentless in the 94th minute of the game. When the final whistle was heard the away supporters stood up and showed their joy. Palestra do Interior had managed to secure a win in what was a close match throughout.
