Tullyrap Utd's manager breathed a sigh of relief on the sidelines as his team had managed to escape an almost certain goal. After 25 played minutes, Velez FC's Gomesano Benedicto shot from a long distance, and at first it looked like the ball was going into the goal, but the goalkeeper Bar McAlphie came through and got his fingers on the ball before it flew over the goal line. He then quickly gripped the ball tighter before the forwards in Velez FC reached it. Banban Ryan hit a great ball. 49 minutes into the match, Velez FC's Gomesano Benedicto broke free and took a long shot that unfortunately flew wide. A fine initiative that could have resulted in a goal. All the noise was coming from the home fans when the whistle went for half-time. The home team had fought hardest to put themselves in a deserved lead.
The players of the home team were most fresh-looking when they entered the field to play the second half. Justin McCready was the one to do the kick off. In the 77th minute there was a penalty for Tullyrap Utd. Justin McCready stepped forward and shot the ball to the right of a diving Severo Rubio. 2-0. After some fancy dribbling in the 80th minute, Imanol Navarro managed to get in a good position for a shot. Velez FC's supporters rose to their feet, but Imanol Navarro was a bit off balance and shot the ball just wide of the left post. Bar McAlphie breathed a sigh of relief and went to take the goal kick. Edgardo Solera blasted a shot towards the goal in the 83rd minute, but the shot hit the top of the crossbar and went out without Bar McAlphie having to make a save. In the 86th minute, one of Tullyrap Utd:s players had the ball in front of the goal but got pushed and fell. The referee felt it was an obvious case and blew a penalty for Tullyrap Utd. Gilbeirt Hamilton hit a great freekick 94 minutes into the match. Velez FC's players left the field with heads hung low after losing a match that had been finely balanced throughout.
