But to his dismay, Ubaldo Abeitia quickly shot the ball in between his legs and into the goal making it 1-1. The crowd rose to their feet as Rolf Weyand kicked a wonderful shot that went in to the left of a diving Ariel Ponc. That made the score 2-1 in the 31 minute of play. An unexpectedly hard shot by James Madison in the 33rd minute of play forced Vampiros Aztecas's goalkeeper Juan Chayo to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. The audience thought a goal was coming when Rolf Weyand got free with Ariel Ponc in the 35th minute, but the goalkeeper managed to catch the ball with a huge effort. Juan Chayo made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Arsenio Maria in the 36th minute of play. Villa Mitre City's Ariel Ponc proved his good apprehension of play when he, in the 38th minute of the match, managed to save Villa Mitre City from getting a goal against them. Mauricio Macías might have been able to make a better finish in the 60th minute when he tried to place a hard shot over Juan Chayo. Instead the ball went over the crossbar and out. Mauricio Macías ran back to his position shaking his head. With a little luck, Vampiros Aztecas's Juan Chayo got control of the ball when Mauricio Macías tried to sneak it across the goal line. In the 61st minute, Tiburcio Txanton hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field.
