The crowd had been anticipating this game for weeks and the excitement in the stadium was easily visible. A collision led to Brighton getting a freekick after 4 minutes play. Adam Miazga hit a great ball. In the 5th minute of the match Damien Narten sent off a long shot with destination to the right of the goalkeeper, but Diego Alves skillfully saved the ball. In the 6th minute Adam Miazga shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Lennard Finkenrath saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. Diego Alves took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Gino Van Herendael, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. The Brighton fans' excitement grew in the 12th match minute when Brighton's Adam Miazga looked to have a clear shot with the ball near the goal. The shot wasn't hard, but the ball still rolled over the goal line to make it 0-1 before the goalkeeper had a chance to intervene. Hertha 1969 were awarded a corner in the 18th minute after Brighton's defender lost control of the ball, allowing it to roll out over the line. Niko Tranenskær took the corner. A collision led to Hertha 1969 getting a freekick after 21 minutes play. Franz Neumann hit a great ball. The audience thought a goal was coming when Franz Neumann got free with Diego Alves in the 24th minute, but the goalkeeper managed to catch the ball with a huge effort. Gino Van Herendael who was well placed in front of the goal fired away a dangerous shot that in the 27thth minute tested the skills of Diego Alves when he managed to save the team from getting behind. After 29 minutes Brighton's defender was forced to head the ball over the line for a corner. It was Niko Tranenskær who took care of the corner kick. A well-hit corner resulted in Damien Narten heading the ball towards the goal, but to his dismay he misdirected it and missed the goal completely. In the 31st match minute, Brighton was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Adam Miazga to maneuver through the defense. Hertha 1969's Lennard Finkenrath played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Alfred Hitchcock in the 33rd minute of play. In the 34th minute Gino Van Herendael shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Diego Alves saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. Franz Neumann received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 36th minute. Diego Alves tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. When Brighton's Adam Miazga in the 38th minute got a chance for a shot 38th didn't hesitate and placed the ball to the right of the goalie. A beautiful save bye Hertha 1969's goalie prevented a goal. Lennard Finkenrath showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Adam Miazga in the 41st minute of the match. Lennard Finkenrath showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Adam Miazga, who was totally free with the ball in the 42nd minute. A collision led to Hertha 1969 getting a freekick after 45 minutes play. Damien Narten hit a great ball. The Hertha 1969 players were disheartened as they walked off the pitch after the first half. Brighton were winning 0-1.

The hometeam waved at the audience when it was time for Adam Miazga to strike the kick off in the second half. Hertha 1969's Lennard Finkenrath played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Alfred Hitchcock in the 53rd minute of play. Lennard Finkenrath made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Adam Miazga in the 58th minute of play. Albert Lim kicked well hit freekick during the 59th minute of the match. Thanks to some nice foot action and superb ball handling Adam Miazga in the 66th minute a chance for a shot on goal. With an extended leg and a bit of luck Lennard Finkenrath prevented the ball from getting in the gole. In the 69th minute Hertha 1969 were awarded a corner. Niko Tranenskær went to the cornerflag to take it. The audience was convinced that Adam Miazga's extremely hard shot when he got free in front of the goal was going in, but Lennard Finkenrath was relentless in the 72nd minute of the game. A nice corner shot did that Rudy Lee got away a dangerous shot. Despite this Lennard Finkenrath quite easily got ahold of the ball to make the save. After 79 minutes of play, the referee blew the whistle. It was a penalty for Hertha 1969! Hertha 1969:s Lennard Finkenrath showed great skill when he stopped Rudy Lee:s penalty. 81 minutes into the game, Brighton's Rudy Lee nearly tore a hole in the net with a booming shot. Lennard Finkenrath made a valiant effort, but he could not reach the ball in time, 0-2. After a rather tough play, Hertha 1969's Ty Scheringer got a free kick in the 86th minute. Rudy Lee might have been able to make a better finish in the 87th minute when he tried to place a hard shot over Lennard Finkenrath. Instead the ball went over the crossbar and out. Rudy Lee ran back to his position shaking his head. In the 91st minute Alfred Hitchcock shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Lennard Finkenrath saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. Lennard Finkenrath made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Adam Miazga in the 98th minute of play. The referee blew the final whistle, and the away crowd roared, having watched Brighton eke out a victory against a very well matched opponent.
