After a rather tough play, U21 Denmark's Loke Altoft got a free kick in the 7th minute. Đorđije Élisabeth showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Achille Santilli in the 8th minute of the match. Thanks to some nice foot action and superb ball handling Alessio Tullo in the 8th minute a chance for a shot on goal. With an extended leg and a bit of luck Đorđije Élisabeth prevented the ball from getting in the gole. Đorđije Élisabeth showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Lucas-Ignacio Cunha, who was totally free with the ball in the 14th minute. 15 minutes into the match, U21 Denmark's goal looked a bit too open when Achille Santilli came free, but Đorđije Élisabeth reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. Helmuth Vindelbo's shot when he came free in front of the goal in the 18thth minute, Luke Skywalker skillfully showed off with a save to what seemed to be an obvious goal. Angelo Di Livio hit a great freekick 19 minutes into the match. Helmuth Vindelbo could have scored with his fast shot on goal in the 23rd minute of the match, but Luke Skywalker made a huge save. Helmuth Vindelbo received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 27th minute. Luke Skywalker tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. Đorđije Élisabeth made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Alessio Tullo in the 28th minute of play. Felipe Melo made in the 30th minute of the game a sloppy throw-in which Achille Santilli however managed to control. The crowd rose to their feet as U21 Denmark's Helmuth Vindelbo slotted home a wonderful shot that went in to the left of Luke Skywalker. That made the score 1-1 after 36 minutes of play. With a couple of smart ball manuevers Helmuth Vindelbo in the 43rd managed to get into a good position. With a left leg Luke Skywalker saved U21 Italy from getting behind. In the 44th minute, Jens Borges hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. After the first half the score was level. The break gave the players a chance to catch their breath, whilst the managers went over the tactics with them again.

The players of the home team were most fresh-looking when they entered the field to play the second half. Helmuth Vindelbo was the one to do the kick off. Đorđije Élisabeth made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Lucas-Ignacio Cunha in the 53rd minute of play. Đorđije Élisabeth made an important save on a dangerous shot by Achille Santilli in the 54th minute. Luke Skywalker showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Helmuth Vindelbo, who was totally free with the ball in the 57th minute. In the 78th match minute, U21 Denmark was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Habakkuk Asprilla to maneuver through the defense. The audience thought a goal was coming when Lucas-Ignacio Cunha got free with Đorđije Élisabeth in the 89th minute, but the goalkeeper managed to catch the ball with a huge effort. U21 Italy's players went to the stands to thank the travelling support. The fan's backing had helped spurr the team on to a fine performance that won them the match.
