Giru EC's Hugo Montenegro played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Elói Koehler in the 15th minute of play. 15 minutes into the game, S.C. Reis United's Elói Koehler nearly tore a hole in the net with a booming shot. Hugo Montenegro made a valiant effort, but he could not reach the ball in time, 1-0. In the 19th minute, Hermínio Reis hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. In the 20th minute, Hamílton Couto got an opportunity to score, but he didn't get a solid hit on the ball and ended up kicking it wide of the goal. After a defensive mix-up in S.C. Reis United's zone, Laerte Nóbrega stole the ball and had only the goalie to beat. João Paulo Urbano came out of the goal and Laerte Nóbrega tried to chip the ball over his head. To his dismay, the ball went over the crossbar and out of play. Hugo Montenegro made a fantastic save in the 28th minute, when Elói Koehler sent off a good shot on target. The referee felt a red card was in order, 31 minutes into the game, when Washington Gomes put in a rough tackle. After 30 minutes of play, the referee blew the whistle. It was a penalty for Giru EC! Hugo Montenegro had in the 32ndth minute some difficulties stopping Rafa Mello's well aimed penalty as it nearly passed him on his left side, but he still managed to hold the ball. When Natanael Maranhense fell near the penalty area in the 35th minute he thought he would be awarded a free kick. The referee ignored S.C. Reis United's protests and gave Natanael Maranhense a yellow card for diving instead. The supporters of Giru EC booed when S.C. Reis United was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 35 match minutes in a wonderful position. Natanael Maranhense didn't get a good kick on the ball. Chiquinho de Queirós kicked well hit freekick during the 38th minute of the match. Rafa Mello fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 39th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Hugo Montenegro having to interfere. Zeca Pimenta hit a great freekick 46 minutes into the match.

When the second half was about to start, both teams quickly lined up and Henrique Trigo made a kick off. Henrique Trigo recieved an excellent pass in front of the goal in the 52nd minute. Unfortunately, he received the ball on his off foot and could only manage a weak shot that went over the goal. A collision led to Giru EC getting a freekick after 53 minutes play. Nicolas Fonseca hit a great ball. Giru EC's Nicolas Fonseca got a good chance for a goal in the 58th minute, but he totally mistimed the shot and it went over the crossbar. In the 62nd minute Giru EC were awarded a corner. Hamílton Couto went to the cornerflag to take it. The corner ended in Hamílton Couto almost managing to get the ball behind the net, but S.C. Reis United's João Paulo Urbano did a great save. 64 minutes into the game, Giru EC's Alexandre Varela nearly tore a hole in the net with a booming shot. In the 82nd minute, Alexandre Varela ran past the defenders and hit a shot which went straight ahead into goal. João Paulo Urbano was frozen by the shot and now it was 1-2. Laerte Nóbrega blasted a shot towards the goal in the 95th minute, but the shot hit the top of the crossbar and went out without João Paulo Urbano having to make a save. Giru EC's supporters were very happy and cheered loudly because their team had won after a very close match.
