After a rather tough play, U21 Brazil's Jano Moreira got a free kick in the 38th minute. Thanks to some nice foot action and superb ball handling Luciano do Valle in the 40th minute a chance for a shot on goal. With an extended leg and a bit of luck Gigio Buffon prevented the ball from getting in the gole. In the 46th minute Thiago Motta shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Xande Buffon saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. All the noise was coming from the home fans when the whistle went for half-time. The home team had fought hardest to put themselves in a deserved lead.

Thiago Motta was slow to take the kick. During this time U21 Brazil's players had a chance to rest. The supporters of Bayern Lessa - u21 booed when U21 Brazil was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 93 match minutes in a wonderful position. Flávio Cannavaro didn't get a good kick on the ball. 95 minutes into the game, Elói Alcântara cracked a shot to the right of the goalkeeper, 5-0. Xande Buffon was not in position, and could only watch the ball fly in. The crowd rose to their feet and cheered when the referee blew the final whistle. U21 Brazil had won after a very even match.
