In the 4th minute 庞烨斌 shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Váldson Loyola saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. Váldson Loyola made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from 宋城希 in the 9th minute of play. A collision led to Perdizrodrigues getting a freekick after 11 minutes play. Rômulo Gonçalves hit a great ball. Central Coast Mariners's 方康剑 proved his good apprehension of play when he, in the 19th minute of the match, managed to save Central Coast Mariners from getting a goal against them. 程岚松 took the ball and in the 26 minute, shot a rapid shot to the right of a surprised 方康剑. 方康剑 dived to the right, and did manage to get a hand on the shot, but it still went into the right corner making it 1-0. After 29 played minutes Perdizrodrigues got a freekick which was hit by Luiz Paulo de Alcântara. 34 minutes into the match, Central Coast Mariners's goalkeeper 方康剑 had to clear away a ball on his right side after a cunning shot by 程岚松. After a rather tough play, Central Coast Mariners's 余杰崇 got a free kick in the 40th minute.

When the second half was about to start, both teams quickly lined up and 宋城希 made a kick off. 53 minutes had been played when some careless play by Perdizrodrigues's defense caused the ball to cross the line for a corner. 庞烨斌 was slow to take the kick. During this time Central Coast Mariners's players had a chance to rest. Through an outstanding action, after 55 minutes, Váldson Loyola successfully got his hands on the ball before it slid into the goal at the right post. 庞烨斌 received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 58th minute. Váldson Loyola tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. If 程岚松 had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 65th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. In the 71st minute of the match, 宋城希 tried to roll the ball into the goal by the right post, but Váldson Loyola saw his intentions and got control of the ball before it passed the line. With a couple of smart ball manuevers 宋城希 in the 76th managed to get into a good position. With a left leg Váldson Loyola saved Perdizrodrigues from getting behind. 程岚松 recieved an excellent pass in front of the goal in the 84th minute. Unfortunately, he received the ball on his off foot and could only manage a weak shot that went over the goal. In the 87thth minute of the game 宋城希 who was perfectly placed tried to make a shot on goal, but Perdizrodrigues's Váldson Loyola was lucky and managed to grab hold of the ball. Through an outstanding action, after 88 minutes, Váldson Loyola successfully got his hands on the ball before it slid into the goal at the right post. 90 minutes into the match, 宋城希 had an open shot that he just couldn't miss and scored to the right of Váldson Loyola. Perdizrodrigues's manager could be seen yelling to the referee that 宋城希 was offside, but the referee ignored the protest. 1-1. If Rômulo Gonçalves had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 93rd minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. Neither team could find the winning goal during normal time. The second half finished 1-1. Extra-time would have to be played.

With new strength the players walked out on the field for the first half of overtime. 程岚松 in Perdizrodrigues was the one to initiate the kick off. After having played for 103 minutes, 庞烨斌 managed to get in a good position for a shot on goal. Central Coast Mariners's supporters crossed their fingers, but 庞烨斌 was, after a quick turn that froze the defenders, out of balance and shot the ball just to the right of the goal. After a rather tough play, Central Coast Mariners's 袁宇寒 got a free kick in the 107th minute. With a little luck, Central Coast Mariners's 方康剑 got control of the ball when 程岚松 tried to sneak it across the goal line. The supporters of Central Coast Mariners booed when Perdizrodrigues was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 112 match minutes in a wonderful position. Robinho de Salles didn't get a good kick on the ball. The Perdizrodrigues players wondered just what they needed to do win this one. 105 minutes had now been played and the teams were still tied. Penalties were starting to look likely.

The players still looked rather fresh even though it was time for second half of the overtime. 宋城希 did a quick kick off. 方康剑 made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Teodoro Hermes in the 119th minute of play. 方康剑 stood for a superb save when he managed to get hold of 程岚松's shot from short distance in the 120th minute. Central Coast Mariners's 方康剑 played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by 程岚松 in the 122nd minute of play. Luiz Paulo de Alcântara kicked well hit freekick during the 122nd minute of the match. 庞烨斌 fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 124th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Váldson Loyola having to interfere. Váldson Loyola made a fantastic save in the 130th minute, when 庞烨斌 sent off a good shot on target. After 131 minutes, 宋城希 mouthed his way into the referee's book. The tension between the Central Coast Mariners and the Perdizrodrigues players grew even worse after the yellow card. Neither team seemed willing to take risks during extra-time and the defenses won out. The match would now go to a penalty shoot-out.

The penalty shot was made by Genílson Quirino, who made a well placed shot into the net to the right of Central Coast Mariners's 方康剑. 5-4.
