In the 11th minute, Haroldo Marinho hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. In the 20th minute Mathias Pirani shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Antônio Carlos Cavalcante saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. The supporters of União Verde FC booed when Palestra do Interior was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 21 match minutes in a wonderful position. Norberto Passos didn't get a good kick on the ball. A collision led to Palestra do Interior getting a freekick after 22 minutes play. David Vale hit a great ball. An unexpectedly hard shot by Mathias Pirani in the 23rd minute of play forced Palestra do Interior's goalkeeper Antônio Carlos Cavalcante to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. Serafim Simão could have scored with his fast shot on goal in the 40th minute of the match, but Valdir Pérez made a huge save. Serafim Simão received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 44th minute. Valdir Pérez tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. Serafim Simão didn't miss a given chance and shot in short distance 2-1 via right post in the game's 48th minute. Palestra do Interior's supporters showed their exhuberating excitement! No-one was surprised that the home team were leading 2-1 at half-time.

In the 58th match minute, Palestra do Interior was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Ulysses Neto to maneuver through the defense. In the 61st minute, Serginho Ceresso hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. A collision led to Palestra do Interior getting a freekick after 65 minutes play. William Luz hit a great ball. The audience thought a goal was coming when Mathias Pirani got free with Antônio Carlos Cavalcante in the 71st minute, but the goalkeeper managed to catch the ball with a huge effort. Norberto Passos kicked well hit freekick during the 78th minute of the match. In the 79th minute, União Verde FC's Mathias Pirani ran free of his marker and smoothly shot the ball into the goal behind Antônio Carlos Cavalcante. Antônio Carlos Cavalcante yelled at his defense, as they had left him out to dry. 2-2. União Verde FC's Valdir Pérez played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Serafim Simão in the 86th minute of play. Serginho Ceresso hit a great freekick 99 minutes into the match. Serafim Simão recieved an excellent pass in front of the goal in the 100th minute. Unfortunately, he received the ball on his off foot and could only manage a weak shot that went over the goal. When the referee blew the final whistle, you could see the dissatisfaction in the União Verde FC players' eyes. They were disappointed they hadn't taken more from the game.
