Mário de Queirós did an outstanding performance 24 minutes into the match, when he by himself got past the opposing team's defense and with a quick scored 3-0 to the right of an irritated Antônio Carlos Cavalcante in the goal. An unexpectedly hard shot by Erasmo de Godoi in the 27th minute of play forced Palestra do Interior's goalkeeper Antônio Carlos Cavalcante to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball.
