The crowd had been anticipating this game for weeks and the excitement in the stadium was easily visible. Garlic Eaters's Nikolay Bonkov played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Marek Hamšík in the 3rd minute of play. Genaro Ponciano didn't have a chance when a screaming shot from Justin Collingwood went, in the 5th minute, to the upper right corner, 0-1 was the resulting score. Genaro Ponciano showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Fitz Lambley in the 11th minute of the match. The supporters of FC Iecēni booed when Garlic Eaters was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 14 match minutes in a wonderful position. Gerry Cheeseman didn't get a good kick on the ball. In the 22nd minute, Tommy Hanley hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. Nikolay Bonkov showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Marek Hamšík, who was totally free with the ball in the 23rd minute. If Olavs Eliass had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 26th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. Genaro Ponciano made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Fitz Lambley in the 34th minute of play. Genaro Ponciano showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Justin Collingwood in the 35th minute of the match. Genaro Ponciano stood for a superb save when he managed to get hold of Justin Collingwood's shot from short distance in the 35th minute. With a little luck, Garlic Eaters's Nikolay Bonkov got control of the ball when Olavs Eliass tried to sneak it across the goal line. In the 42nd minute of the match, Viktors Behmans tried to roll the ball into the goal by the right post, but Nikolay Bonkov saw his intentions and got control of the ball before it passed the line. Fitz Lambley's late challenge caught a FC Iecēni's player on the shin and left him crawling around in pain. The referee blew his whistle and produced the yellow card. Fitz Lambley helped the player get up and apologised. After a rather tough play, Garlic Eaters's Fitz Lambley got a free kick in the 46th minute. Marek Hamšík fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 48th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Nikolay Bonkov having to interfere. The FC Iecēni players were disheartened as they walked off the pitch after the first half. Garlic Eaters were winning 0-1.

Justin Collingwood could have scored with his fast shot on goal in the 52nd minute of the match, but Genaro Ponciano made a huge save. In the 53rd minute Garlic Eaters were awarded a corner. Pavol Stano went to the cornerflag to take it. Genaro Ponciano came out of the goal in the 56th minute to try and stop a shot by Garlic Eaters's Justin Collingwood. But to his dismay, Justin Collingwood quickly shot the ball in between his legs and into the goal making it 0-2. FC Iecēni made a substitution. Osvalds Borskis replaced Olafs Buncis. A collision led to FC Iecēni getting a freekick after 60 minutes play. Viesturs Pilāns hit a great ball. 61 minutes into the match, Garlic Eaters's Pavol Stano sent off a blazing shot straight on target, a shot that Genaro Ponciano narrowly saved just below the crossbar. 64 minutes into the match, Garlic Eaters's goal looked a bit too open when Olavs Eliass came free, but Nikolay Bonkov reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. The audience thought a goal was coming when Justin Collingwood got free with Genaro Ponciano in the 66th minute, but the goalkeeper managed to catch the ball with a huge effort. Garlic Eaters were awarded a corner in the 67th minute after FC Iecēni's defender lost control of the ball, allowing it to roll out over the line. Pavol Stano took the corner. Noel Broom hit a great freekick 67 minutes into the match. When Garlic Eaters, in the 67th minute, was rewarded a free kick, Noel Broom went for the shot and managed to fire it away just outside the right post. An excellent chance for a goal! Nikolay Bonkov took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Olavs Eliass, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. After 71 played minutes Garlic Eaters got a freekick which was hit by Noel Broom. Genaro Ponciano showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Jasper Attwood in the 75th minute of the match. Nikolay Bonkov made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Olavs Eliass in the 79th minute of play. Gints Lielgalvis went to the cornerflag to take it. A well-hit corner resulted in Olavs Eliass heading the ball towards the goal, but to his dismay he misdirected it and missed the goal completely. With a little luck, FC Iecēni's Genaro Ponciano got control of the ball when Fitz Lambley tried to sneak it across the goal line. A collision led to FC Iecēni getting a freekick after 90 minutes play. Marek Hamšík hit a great ball. Thanks to some nice foot action and superb ball handling Olavs Eliass in the 93rd minute a chance for a shot on goal. With an extended leg and a bit of luck Nikolay Bonkov prevented the ball from getting in the gole. The away crowd were delighted with the way their team had played and cheered loudly when the final whistle sounded. Garlic Eaters walked away with the win, even though the match was close until the end.
