The crowd had been anticipating this game for weeks and the excitement in the stadium was easily visible. Péter Mészáros showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Pavel Ilgov in the 5th minute of the match. 7 minutes into the match, F.C. Paços de Ferreira's goal looked a bit too open when Pavel Ilgov came free, but Péter Mészáros reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. Nourredine Aggoune made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from José Bomba in the 9th minute of play. Inácio Secco struck a weak shot in the 15th minute. Nourredine Aggoune didn't even have to move as the ball rolled over the line well wide of the goal. A wasted opportunity for F.C. Paços de Ferreira. In the 16th match minute, FC Ribba was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Boris Söderström to maneuver through the defense. In the 19th minute, José Bomba left the goalkeeper for dead before tapping the ball into the right side of the net. The F.C. Paços de Ferreira fans were clearly happy with the effort and the scoreboard reflected the new score: 0-1. 21 minutes into the game, Wiktor Miodek was given a yellow card after he appeared to trip an opposing player. F.C. Paços de Ferreira's manager was livid on the sidelines, but the referee was unmoved and gave FC Ribba the free kick. The corner ended in Igor Tudor almost managing to get the ball behind the net, but FC Ribba's Nourredine Aggoune did a great save. The supporters of FC Ribba booed when F.C. Paços de Ferreira was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 30 match minutes in a wonderful position. José Bomba didn't get a good kick on the ball. 34 minutes into the match, FC Ribba's goal looked a bit too open when José Bomba came free, but Nourredine Aggoune reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. Péter Mészáros took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Pavel Ilgov, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. In the 38th minute of the match Igor Tudor sent off a long shot with destination to the right of the goalkeeper, but Nourredine Aggoune skillfully saved the ball. After 39 played minutes FC Ribba got a freekick which was hit by Boris Söderström. 41 minutes into the match, F.C. Paços de Ferreira's José Bomba sent off a blazing shot straight on target, a shot that Nourredine Aggoune narrowly saved just below the crossbar. José Bomba received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 43rd minute. Nourredine Aggoune tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. Simon Martinsson hit a great freekick 47 minutes into the match. When José Bomba came up free with the goalie in the 48th minute, the F.C. Paços de Ferreira fans jumped to their feet. But the shot missed the goal by a fraction of an inch, and the fans sat back down disappointed that José Bomba couldn't finish the play. Luck had favoured the away team in the first, and they walked off with a 0-1 lead.
When the second half was about to start, both teams quickly lined up and Pavel Ilgov made a kick off. Inácio Secco received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 53rd minute. Nourredine Aggoune tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. F.C. Paços de Ferreira's Péter Mészáros played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Simon Martinsson in the 59th minute of play. In the 61st minute Pavel Ilgov shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Péter Mészáros saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. In the 62nd minute the ball was on its way in behind FC Ribba's goalkeeper Nourredine Aggoune, but with the help of a sacrificing defense, he could catch the ball at the crossbar. After some careless play in the F.C. Paços de Ferreira defense, Simon Martinsson kicked a shot that curved into the net to the right of Péter Mészáros. The F.C. Paços de Ferreira fans voiced their displeasure as they felt that Péter Mészáros should have stopped the shot. FC Ribba's Arlo Huberto was substituted for Klement Furtok. The FC Ribba supporters were disappointed that their team didn't take anything from the match, despite matching F.C. Paços de Ferreira's performance. The match ended with a win for F.C. Paços de Ferreira.
