With a couple of smart ball manuevers Marcus Allbäck in the 5th managed to get into a good position. With a left leg Eric Soned saved Étoile Sportive Du Sahel from getting behind. The supporters of Joinville City - FSCMZ booed when Étoile Sportive Du Sahel was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 6 match minutes in a wonderful position. Fabrício Rivarola didn't get a good kick on the ball. Joinville City - FSCMZ's Drew Zaelani shoveled away a really nice long shot in the 7th minute of play. The shot was stopped by Eric Soned but with some difficulty. After some careless play in the Étoile Sportive Du Sahel defense, Marcus Allbäck kicked a shot that curved into the net to the right of Eric Soned. The Étoile Sportive Du Sahel fans voiced their displeasure as they felt that Eric Soned should have stopped the shot. 17 minutes into the match, Étoile Sportive Du Sahel's goalkeeper Eric Soned had to clear away a ball on his right side after a cunning shot by Marcus Allbäck. Eric Soned acted impressively in front of the goal and made a superb save when he, in the 20th minute, took the ball on the long shot from Drew Zaelani. Adhemar Santos received a nice pass, split the defenders, and ran untouched towards the goal. Eric Soned came out and tried to block the shot, but Adhemar Santos slotted it home off the left post making it 2-0 in the 28th minute. Étoile Sportive Du Sahel's attentive Fabrício Rivarola managed to snatch the ball when Tomás Reis made a throw-in in the 31st minute of the game. In the 33rd minute, Joinville City - FSCMZ's Adhemar Santos ran free of his marker and smoothly shot the ball into the goal behind Eric Soned. Eric Soned yelled at his defense, as they had left him out to dry. 3-0. In the 41st minute Marcus Allbäck shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Eric Soned saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. In the 42nd match minute, Étoile Sportive Du Sahel was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Allan Olofsson to maneuver through the defense. After a defensive mix-up in Étoile Sportive Du Sahel's zone, George Pogba stole the ball and had only the goalie to beat. Eric Soned came out of the goal and George Pogba tried to chip the ball over his head. To his dismay, the ball went over the crossbar and out of play. When the referee blew for the end of the half the home team players were clearly happier, as they went in to the break leading 3-0.

The players of the home team were most fresh-looking when they entered the field to play the second half. Nickolai Nickerson was the one to do the kick off. Eric Soned made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Adhemar Santos in the 53rd minute of play. Étoile Sportive Du Sahel's attentive Nickolai Nickerson managed to snatch the ball when Karsten Ulbak made a throw-in in the 55th minute of the game. In the 57th match minute, Étoile Sportive Du Sahel was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Nickolai Nickerson to maneuver through the defense. 58 minutes into the match, Étoile Sportive Du Sahel's Nickolai Nickerson sent off a blazing shot straight on target, a shot that Haji Sarap narrowly saved just below the crossbar. An unexpectedly hard shot by Marcus Allbäck in the 59th minute of play forced Étoile Sportive Du Sahel's goalkeeper Eric Soned to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. In the 61st match minute, Étoile Sportive Du Sahel was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Geovanni de Medeiros to maneuver through the defense. Haji Sarap made a fantastic save in the 71st minute, when Fabrício Rivarola sent off a good shot on target. Eric Soned showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Marcus Allbäck in the 72nd minute of the match. In the 78th minute, Marcus Allbäck ran past the defenders and hit a shot which went straight ahead into goal. Eric Soned was frozen by the shot and now it was 4-0. Étoile Sportive Du Sahel made a substitution. Carlo Ancelotti replaced Nickolai Nickerson. Joinville City - FSCMZ made a substitution. João Francisco Arce replaced George Pogba. Bernardino Llorenc scored 5-0 in the 83rd match minute with a shot that went into the goal to the right of Eric Soned, who was just a little too slow in reacting to the shot. Eric Soned showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Mbaka N'Diaye, who was totally free with the ball in the 87th minute. 92 minutes into the match, Joinville City - FSCMZ's goalkeeper Haji Sarap had to clear away a ball on his right side after a cunning shot by Carlo Ancelotti. Eric Soned made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Geovanildo Luis in the 96th minute of play. Fabrício Rivarola hit a great freekick 97 minutes into the match. The audience was convinced that Bernardino Llorenc's extremely hard shot when he got free in front of the goal was going in, but Eric Soned was relentless in the 98th minute of the game.

When the referee ended the match the Joinville City - FSCMZ players were able to celebrate. They had won a fair victory and recieved the ovations of their fans.
