In the 8th minute Wladimir Jungwirth shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Chiquito Martinez saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. Anastasio Iraitz fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 10th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Nestor Romero having to interfere. If Anastasio Iraitz had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 12th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. 15 minutes into the match, Werderaner 04 Volkssport's goalkeeper Nestor Romero had to clear away a ball on his right side after a cunning shot by Flavio Laurgain. Chiquito Martinez took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Jonas Küttner, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. 19 minutes into the match, Independiente's goal looked a bit too open when Jonas Küttner came free, but Chiquito Martinez reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. After 20 played minutes Werderaner 04 Volkssport got a freekick which was hit by Keith Harms. When Keith Harms came up free with the goalie in the 24th minute, the Werderaner 04 Volkssport fans jumped to their feet. But the shot missed the goal by a fraction of an inch, and the fans sat back down disappointed that Keith Harms couldn't finish the play. In the 26th minute Wladimir Jungwirth shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Chiquito Martinez saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. Independiente's Chiquito Martinez played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Wladimir Jungwirth in the 34th minute of play. Nestor Romero made an important save on a dangerous shot by Jorg Pieters in the 35th minute. When Keith Harms came up free with the goalie in the 47th minute, the Werderaner 04 Volkssport fans jumped to their feet. Both sets of players seemed reasonably pleased with how the match was going.
The audience was convinced that Wladimir Jungwirth's extremely hard shot when he got free in front of the goal was going in, but Chiquito Martinez was relentless in the 51st minute of the game. Wladimir Jungwirth recieved an excellent pass in front of the goal in the 55th minute. Unfortunately, he received the ball on his off foot and could only manage a weak shot that went over the goal. An unexpectedly hard shot by Wladimir Jungwirth in the 94th minute of play forced Independiente's goalkeeper Chiquito Martinez to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. In the 96th minute Keith Harms shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Chiquito Martinez saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. When the referee blew the final whistle, you could see the dissatisfaction in the Independiente players' eyes. They were disappointed they hadn't taken more from the game.
