But the shot missed the goal by a fraction of an inch, and the fans sat back down disappointed that Eloy Librado couldn't finish the play. With a couple of smart ball manuevers Biagio Selvaggi in the 19th managed to get into a good position. With a left leg Vinicio Hitzeder saved Guernica FC from getting behind. Marcos Fertus sent away a hard shot on goal in the 20th minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. Thanks to some nice foot action and superb ball handling Biagio Selvaggi in the 23rd minute a chance for a shot on goal. With an extended leg and a bit of luck Vinicio Hitzeder prevented the ball from getting in the gole. In the 23rdth minute of the game Biagio Selvaggi who was perfectly placed tried to make a shot on goal, but Guernica FC's Vinicio Hitzeder was lucky and managed to grab hold of the ball. Thanks to some nice foot action and superb ball handling Biagio Selvaggi in the 25th minute a chance for a shot on goal. With an extended leg and a bit of luck Vinicio Hitzeder prevented the ball from getting in the gole. After 26 minutes of play, Atalanta's Cristiano Basso made it 1-1 when he simply outclassed the defender marking him and hit a curling shot into the right side of the net. Vinicio Hitzeder was left in no man's land by his defense there! Vinicio Hitzeder showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Ciro Pari, who was totally free with the ball in the 30th minute. After 35 minutes of play, Atalanta's Biagio Selvaggi made it 1-2 when he simply outclassed the defender marking him and hit a curling shot into the right side of the net. The crowd was extremely unhappy with the home team's performance in the first half. They were losing 1-2.

56 minutes into the match, Guernica FC's goal looked a bit too open when Biagio Selvaggi came free, but Vinicio Hitzeder reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. After 59 played minutes Atalanta got a freekick which was hit by Cristiano Basso. After 65 minutes, Biagio Selvaggi made it 1-4 with a short kick to the right side. Guernica FC's Vinicio Hitzeder tried to save the shot but he was too slow in reacting to the shot. If Eloy Librado had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 69th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. With an all-out effort, Atalanta's Vinicio Hitzeder threw himself towards the right post 74 minutes into the match and grabbed hold of the ball from Biagio Selvaggi, which otherwise would have been placed in the net. After some careless play in the Guernica FC defense, Biagio Selvaggi kicked a shot that curved into the net to the right of Vinicio Hitzeder. The Guernica FC fans voiced their displeasure as they felt that Vinicio Hitzeder should have stopped the shot. An unexpectedly hard shot by Marcos Fertus in the 80th minute of play forced Atalanta's goalkeeper Alessandro Pellegrini to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. Dante Erruki charged in rather forcefully in the 80th minute of the match, and managed to knock his opponent down.
