Unfortunately, he received the ball on his off foot and could only manage a weak shot that went over the goal. Luís Fernando Castro showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Biagio Selvaggi, who was totally free with the ball in the 10th minute. 15 minutes into the match, Atalanta's Biagio Selvaggi sent off a blazing shot straight on target, a shot that Luís Fernando Castro narrowly saved just below the crossbar. The audience thought a goal was coming when Cristiano Basso got free with Luís Fernando Castro in the 16th minute, but the goalkeeper managed to catch the ball with a huge effort. Biagio Selvaggi was extremely unlucky when he, in the 18th minute, took a shot that hit the right post and went out. Luís Fernando Castro showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Biagio Selvaggi in the 21st minute of the match. The supporters of Atalanta booed when Colorado was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 22 match minutes in a wonderful position. Ramiro Ferreira didn't get a good kick on the ball. Colorado's Luís Fernando Castro played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Alberto Leone in the 27th minute of play. After some fancy dribbling in the 29th minute, Biagio Selvaggi managed to get in a good position for a shot. Atalanta's supporters rose to their feet, but Biagio Selvaggi was a bit off balance and shot the ball just wide of the left post. Delfim Perez made in the 53rd minute of the game a throw-in that took a bad bounce and was taken care of by Atalanta's Alberto Leone. If Biagio Selvaggi had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 55th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. After 61 played minutes Atalanta got a freekick which was hit by Alberto Leone. With a little luck, Atalanta's Alessandro Pellegrini got control of the ball when Gabriel Paranaense tried to sneak it across the goal line. Colorado's manager could be seen yelling to the referee that Biagio Selvaggi was offside, but the referee ignored the protest. 4-0. Luís Fernando Castro was clearly disgusted with the effort of the defense and let the defenders know about it. There was no doubt that Atalanta were the better team. Atalanta's players enjoyed the ovations of the crowd after the victory.
