Dante Elorri charged in rather forcefully in the 11th minute of the match, and managed to knock his opponent down. The referee showed Dante Elorri the yellow card, and asked the players to shake hands before continuing play. The supporters of Fronteiro booed when Guernica FC was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 12 match minutes in a wonderful position. Dante Elorri didn't get a good kick on the ball. Marcos Fertuss short, quick shot in the 16thth minute got Willian Dias to make great effort and bar the ball away from getting in. Ediberto de Moraes sent away a hard shot on goal in the 21st minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. Fronteiro's supporters rose to their feet, but Ediberto de Moraes was a bit off balance and shot the ball just wide of the left post. Vinicio Hitzeder breathed a sigh of relief and went to take the goal kick. After 38 played minutes Fronteiro got a freekick which was hit by Renatinho Mandrak. After having played for 40 minutes, Ediberto de Moraes managed to get in a good position for a shot on goal. Fronteiro's supporters crossed their fingers, but Ediberto de Moraes was, after a quick turn that froze the defenders, out of balance and shot the ball just to the right of the goal. Willian Dias showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Sergio Salvidor in the 46th minute of the match. The away team players looked dejected as the walked off the pitch at half time. They had fought hard, but were still losing 1-0.

The players of the home team were most fresh-looking when they entered the field to play the second half. Sergio Salvidor was the one to do the kick off. Fronteiro's Willian Dias played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Sergio Salvidor in the 53rd minute of play. Willian Dias came out of the goal in the 56th minute to try and stop a shot by Guernica FC's Marcos Fertus. But to his dismay, Marcos Fertus quickly shot the ball in between his legs and into the goal making it 2-0. Fronteiro's Willian Dias played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Marcos Fertus in the 59th minute of play. In the 60th match minute, Fronteiro was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Sílvio Luís Mattos to maneuver through the defense. Vinicio Hitzeder made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Luiz Paulo Netto in the 64th minute of play. In the 66th minute Marcos Fertus shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Willian Dias saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. Guernica FC were furious when Benito Ipar was red carded, 68 minutes into the game, but the referee dismissed their protests. 68 minutes into the game, one of Guernica FC:s players got tackled near the goal, and the referee blew for a penalty. Willian Dias showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Marcos Fertus, who was totally free with the ball in the 76th minute. When the match had gone on for 79 minutes, Zacarias Gaizkine put it in 3-0 from a short distance just to the right of Willian Dias. After having played for 82 minutes, Ediberto de Moraes managed to get in a good position for a shot on goal. Fronteiro's supporters crossed their fingers, but Ediberto de Moraes was, after a quick turn that froze the defenders, out of balance and shot the ball just to the right of the goal. In the 84th minute, Ediberto de Moraes made a precise shot to the right of Vinicio Hitzeder. Guernica FC's defense was at fault, and the scoreboard reflected the new score, 3-1. In the 87th match minute, Fronteiro was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Dinei Dionísio to maneuver through the defense. If Ediberto de Moraes had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 96th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. With a couple of smart ball manuevers Zacarias Gaizkine in the 99th managed to get into a good position. With a left leg Willian Dias saved Fronteiro from getting behind.
