Atalanta's Alberto Leone quickly snatched the ball and retained possesion. László Páncsics didn't have a chance when a screaming shot from Biagio Selvaggi went, in the 27th minute, to the upper right corner, 1-0 was the resulting score. Puskas Akademia FC's manager was livid on the sidelines, but the referee was unmoved and gave Atalanta the free kick. In the 45th minute Emiliano Ciapponi shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but László Páncsics saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. Alessandro Pellegrini came out of the goal in the 46th minute to try and stop a shot by Puskas Akademia FC's László Lovas. But to his dismay, László Lovas quickly shot the ball in between his legs and into the goal making it 1-1. The first half was very even, with the score at 1-1 when the whistle went for half-time. The players welcomed the break and quickly retired to the dressing rooms.

The wind increased when László Lovas made the kick off in the second half. Mátyás Major fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 54th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Alessandro Pellegrini having to interfere. A sloppy throw-in by Kristóf Dárdai in the 59th minute of the game went astray and was snapped up by Atalanta's Alberto Leone. Mátyás Major received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 61st minute. Alessandro Pellegrini tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. If Emiliano Ciapponi had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 64th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. After 66 played minutes Atalanta got a freekick which was hit by Alberto Leone. Anthony Tardelli sent away a hard shot on goal in the 70th minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. Alessandro Pellegrini tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. After having played for 79 minutes, Ottó Lencse managed to get in a good position for a shot on goal. Puskas Akademia FC's supporters crossed their fingers, but Ottó Lencse was, after a quick turn that froze the defenders, out of balance and shot the ball just to the right of the goal. Ákos Ferenc sent away a hard shot on goal in the 86th minute, but the ball hit the crossbar and went out. A very good chance for a goal. When Anthony Tardelli came up free with the goalie in the 88th minute, the Atalanta fans jumped to their feet. But the shot missed the goal by a fraction of an inch, and the fans sat back down disappointed that Anthony Tardelli couldn't finish the play. The supporters of Puskas Akademia FC booed when Atalanta was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 95 match minutes in a wonderful position. Anthony Tardelli didn't get a good kick on the ball. Both teams had looked equal from kick-off, and no-one was surprised when the match finally ended in a draw.
