After a rather tough play, Borgo Doria F.C.'s Gildo Marques got a free kick in the 25th minute. After 27 played minutes Borgo Doria F.C. got a freekick which was hit by Alberto Scutti. If Stefanos Terzopoulos had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 30th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. After a rather tough play, Esmeraldas S.C.'s Willy Reynolds got a free kick in the 34th minute. Corrado Spitaleri stood for a superb save when he managed to get hold of Stefanos Terzopoulos's shot from short distance in the 37th minute. Corrado Spitaleri was left in no man's land by his defense there! After the first half Esmeraldas S.C. were leading 0-4. They had played with great self confidence throughout the first half and fully deserved their lead.

The hometeam waved at the audience when it was time for Alberto Scutti to strike the kick off in the second half. Corrado Spitaleri showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Damian Maftei in the 51st minute of the match. After having played for 87 minutes, Damian Maftei managed to get in a good position for a shot on goal. Esmeraldas S.C.'s supporters crossed their fingers, but Damian Maftei was, after a quick turn that froze the defenders, out of balance and shot the ball just to the right of the goal. Corrado Spitaleri took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Damian Maftei, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. 91 minutes into the match, Borgo Doria F.C.'s goalkeeper Corrado Spitaleri had to clear away a ball on his right side after a cunning shot by Damian Maftei. Ercole Mian sent away a hard shot on goal in the 93rd minute, but the ball hit the crossbar and went out. A very good chance for a goal. Marc Pringle hit a great freekick 97 minutes into the match. The Esmeraldas S.C. players were relieved to hear the final whistle blow to end the match. The away crowd was happy to see their team win after a very tight game.
