Bayer Leverkusen's Reynaldo Custódio played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Paulino Araoz in the 12th minute of play. 14 minutes had been played when some careless play by Bayer Leverkusen's defense caused the ball to cross the line for a corner. Dan Benet was slow to take the kick. During this time Gorgory's players had a chance to rest. In the 15th minute of the match Gorgory got a corner. Bayer Leverkusen's goalie ran out to the linesman to protest the call, but the linesman resolutely pointed his flag at the cornerflag. Dan Benet ran over to the corner to take the kick. Basilio Cordairo hit a great freekick 16 minutes into the match. After 17 played minutes, Bayer Leverkusen's Mathias Linke shot from a long distance, and at first it looked like the ball was going into the goal, but the goalkeeper Abel Orlan came through and got his fingers on the ball before it flew over the goal line. He then quickly gripped the ball tighter before the forwards in Bayer Leverkusen reached it. A collision led to Bayer Leverkusen getting a freekick after 19 minutes play. Mathias Linke hit a great ball. 19 minutes into the match, Bayer Leverkusen's goalkeeper Reynaldo Custódio had to clear away a ball on his right side after a cunning shot by Higinio Valiente. In the 22nd minute Jens Burmeister shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Abel Orlan saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. Thanks to some nice foot action and superb ball handling Paulino Araoz in the 23rd minute a chance for a shot on goal. With an extended leg and a bit of luck Reynaldo Custódio prevented the ball from getting in the gole. Reynaldo Custódio stood for a superb save when he managed to get hold of Paulino Araoz's shot from short distance in the 23rd minute. Higinio Valientes short, quick shot in the 31stth minute got Reynaldo Custódio to make great effort and bar the ball away from getting in. Reynaldo Custódio made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Paulino Araoz in the 34th minute of play. After 42 played minutes Bayer Leverkusen got a freekick which was hit by Mathias Sobbe. Mathias Sobbe sent away a hard shot on goal in the 45th minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. Luck had favoured the away team in the first, and they walked off with a 0-1 lead.

Abel Orlan had in the 62ndth minute some difficulties stopping Jens Burmeister's well aimed penalty as it nearly passed him on his left side, but he still managed to hold the ball. In the 66th minute Mathias Sobbe shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Abel Orlan saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. Elroy Snijders sent away a hard shot on goal in the 70th minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. Reynaldo Custódio stood for a superb save when he managed to get hold of Elroy Snijders's shot from short distance in the 72nd minute. With a couple of smart ball manuevers Elroy Snijders in the 77th managed to get into a good position. With a left leg Reynaldo Custódio saved Bayer Leverkusen from getting behind. If Elroy Snijders had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 78th minute. The ball went over the crossbar instead. The supporters of Bayer Leverkusen booed when Gorgory was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 79 match minutes in a wonderful position. Basilio Cordairo didn't get a good kick on the ball. After 84 played minutes Bayer Leverkusen got a freekick which was hit by Marinus Buhr. After 86 played minutes Gorgory got a freekick which was hit by Elroy Snijders. The supporters of Gorgory booed when Bayer Leverkusen was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 89 match minutes in a wonderful position. Marinus Buhr didn't get a good kick on the ball. With a couple of smart ball manuevers Elroy Snijders in the 90th managed to get into a good position. With a left leg Reynaldo Custódio saved Bayer Leverkusen from getting behind. If Elroy Snijders had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 92nd minute. The ball went over the crossbar instead. Elroy Snijders received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 95th minute. Reynaldo Custódio tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. In the 96th minute Mathias Sobbe shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Abel Orlan saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. The Bayer Leverkusen players were the happier at the end of the match as they had prevented Gorgory from taking control. The game ends in a draw.
