Jakub Ziombkowski fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 11th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Franc Armani having to interfere. Franc Armani took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Jakub Ziombkowski, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. 21 minutes in the game, Nicolas De La Cruz dribbled his way through the penalty area and after maneuvering past an opponent, drilled a quick shot at the goal. The ball looked like it was going in, but it was hit a bit too hard and flew over the goal. Sebastian Hellkvist made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Lucas Beltrán in the 24th minute of play. After a very even first half the match was still tied. The players went to their respective dressing rooms to discuss the tactics for the second half.

Both teams looked relatively alert before the second half when the referee blew his whistle to tell Santiago Simon to make the kick off. 60 minutes in the game Lorenzo Acutain did a throw-in, and the ball was quickly in game thanks to Mateusz Giertych. An unexpectedly hard shot by Santiago Simon in the 85th minute of play forced Inter de Guayaquil FC's goalkeeper Sebastian Hellkvist to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. The supporters of Inter de Guayaquil FC booed when Invisible was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 86 match minutes in a wonderful position. Segundo Jakes didn't get a good kick on the ball. When Mateusz Giertych came up free with the goalie in the 97th minute, the Inter de Guayaquil FC fans jumped to their feet.
