With a couple of smart ball manuevers Zoltán Varga in the 5th managed to get into a good position. With a left leg Ján Tuleja saved FC Melon from getting behind. Richard Kremeň kicked well hit freekick during the 6th minute of the match. An unexpectedly hard shot by Martin Kudlak in the 9th minute of play forced Gyál United's goalkeeper Gyula Grosics to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. Martin Kudlak sent away a hard shot on goal in the 10th minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. When Gyál United's Walmir Breckenfeld in the 12th minute got a chance for a shot 12th didn't hesitate and placed the ball to the right of the goalie. Ján Tuleja showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Zoltán Varga in the 26th minute of the match. The audience thought a goal was coming when Zoltán Varga got free with Ján Tuleja in the 30th minute, but the goalkeeper managed to catch the ball with a huge effort. The audience was convinced that Martin Kudlak's extremely hard shot when he got free in front of the goal was going in, but Gyula Grosics was relentless in the 37th minute of the game. Disappointed in the 0-1 score, the home team went to the dressing room to adjust tactics for the second half.

Both teams looked relatively alert before the second half when the referee blew his whistle to tell Zoltán Varga to make the kick off. Ignác Mayer was slow to take the kick. During this time Gyál United's players had a chance to rest. A nice corner shot did that Ignác Mayer got away a dangerous shot. Despite this Ján Tuleja quite easily got ahold of the ball to make the save. The Gyál United fans had already started to leave before the final whistle blew. FC Melon were clearly better and deserved to take the win.
