Toronto FC's Papillion Cheek proved his good apprehension of play when he, in the 43rd minute of the match, managed to save Toronto FC from getting a goal against them. 44 minutes into the match, Oegstgeest Excelsior's goal looked a bit too open when Abraham Mejia came free, but Jan Weinands reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. A collision led to Toronto FC getting a freekick after 70 minutes play. Kyle Souplet hit a great ball. Papillion Cheek took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Hette Ploeger, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. Jan Weinands didn't have a chance when a screaming shot from Abraham Mejia went, in the 74th minute, to the upper right corner, 1-4 was the resulting score. Govert Koopmans hit a great freekick 80 minutes into the match. In the 82nd minute, Jonathan Schmidt hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. Abraham Mejia was probably a little too eager to shoot when he, in the 82nd played minute, shot the ball from way out. The shot was hard, but the ball flew wide of the goal. 86 minutes into the match, Toronto FC's goal looked a bit too open when Robin Lokin came free, but Papillion Cheek reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. Hyman Buckner kicked well hit freekick during the 87th minute of the match. After 88 minutes of play, Oegstgeest Excelsior's Robin Lokin made it 2-4 when he simply outclassed the defender marking him and hit a curling shot into the right side of the net. Papillion Cheek was left in no man's land by his defense there! After 93 minutes, Jonathan Schmidt mouthed his way into the referee's book. The tension between the Oegstgeest Excelsior and the Toronto FC players grew even worse after the yellow card. When the match was over Toronto FC could go home with a victory in their luggage, having controlled the game far better than Oegstgeest Excelsior throughout the match.
