Wilson Vianna made a valiant effort, but he could not reach the ball in time, 0-1. After 14 minutes of play, Inter de Chillán's Juan Luis Dittborn made it 0-2 when he simply outclassed the defender marking him and hit a curling shot into the right side of the net. Wilson Vianna was left in no man's land by his defense there! Wilson Vianna came out of the goal in the 17th minute to try and stop a shot by Inter de Chillán's Giuseppe Meazza. But to his dismay, Giuseppe Meazza quickly shot the ball in between his legs and into the goal making it 0-3. 23 minutes into the match, Gurdurão's goal looked a bit too open when Giuseppe Meazza came free, but Wilson Vianna reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. After 24 played minutes Inter de Chillán got a freekick which was hit by Steve Vaid. After a rather tough play, Inter de Chillán's Jose Manuel Aguiar got a free kick in the 31st minute. After a defensive mix-up in Gurdurão's zone, Juan Luis Dittborn stole the ball and had only the goalie to beat. Wilson Vianna came out of the goal and Juan Luis Dittborn tried to chip the ball over his head. To his dismay, the ball went over the crossbar and out of play. If Juan Luis Dittborn had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 39th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. Juan Luis Dittborn fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 43rd minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Wilson Vianna having to interfere.

The players of the away team seemed most concentrated when Dalmo Santos stepped up to make the kick off in the second half. Gurdurão's Matías Bezerra managed, thanks to a brazen rush, stole the ball on a throw-in made by Marcos Soto in the 51 minute of the game. Gurdurão's Wilson Vianna played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Juan Luis Dittborn in the 56th minute of play. After a defensive mix-up in Inter de Chillán's zone, Dalmo Santos stole the ball and had only the goalie to beat. José Ignacio Rocha came out of the goal and Dalmo Santos tried to chip the ball over his head. To his dismay, the ball went over the crossbar and out of play. In the 68th minute of the match, Francisco Lacunza tried to roll the ball into the goal by the right post, but Wilson Vianna saw his intentions and got control of the ball before it passed the line. José Ignacio Rocha made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Dalmo Santos in the 69th minute of play. In the 71st minute Dalmo Santos shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but José Ignacio Rocha saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. Wilson Vianna took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Francisco Lacunza, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. If Pepe Giliamsen had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 77th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. In the 78th minute, Steve Vaid left the goalkeeper for dead before tapping the ball into the right side of the net. The Inter de Chillán fans were clearly happy with the effort and the scoreboard reflected the new score: 0-5. Wilson Vianna made an important save on a dangerous shot by Juan Luis Alfaro in the 84th minute. In the 87th match minute, Inter de Chillán was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Arnaldo Detmer to maneuver through the defense. 88 minutes into the match, Inter de Chillán's goal looked a bit too open when Douglas de Amaral came free, but José Ignacio Rocha reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. The Inter de Chillán players were relieved to hear the final whistle blow to end the match. The away crowd was happy to see their team win after a very tight game.
