The crowd had been anticipating this game for weeks and the excitement in the stadium was easily visible. A collision led to La Mora CAT getting a freekick after 2 minutes play. Du Jian Chen hit a great ball. The audience thought a goal was coming when Xu Li Sang got free with Şenol Güneş in the 7th minute, but the goalkeeper managed to catch the ball with a huge effort. Thanks to some nice foot action and superb ball handling Durval de Queirós in the 9th minute a chance for a shot on goal. With an extended leg and a bit of luck Şenol Güneş prevented the ball from getting in the gole. 11 minutes into the match, Jovens Democratas MZC's goal looked a bit too open when Severino Coutinho came free, but Manoel Neuer reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. An unexpectedly hard shot by Du Jian Chen in the 13th minute of play forced Jovens Democratas MZC's goalkeeper Manoel Neuer to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. La Mora CAT's Şenol Güneş proved his good apprehension of play when he, in the 21st minute of the match, managed to save La Mora CAT from getting a goal against them. Manoel Neuer made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Coronel Andres in the 23rd minute of play. 26 minutes into the match, Jovens Democratas MZC's goal looked a bit too open when Coronel Canyelles came free, but Manoel Neuer reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. In the 26thth minute of the game Coronel Canyelles who was perfectly placed tried to make a shot on goal, but Jovens Democratas MZC's Manoel Neuer was lucky and managed to grab hold of the ball. Durval de Queiróss short, quick shot in the 29thth minute got Şenol Güneş to make great effort and bar the ball away from getting in. An unexpectedly hard shot by Durval de Queirós in the 31st minute of play forced La Mora CAT's goalkeeper Şenol Güneş to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. Dobromir Zagrodnys short, quick shot in the 36thth minute got Şenol Güneş to make great effort and bar the ball away from getting in. After 38 minutes of play, La Mora CAT's Coronel Andres made it 0-1 when he simply outclassed the defender marking him and hit a curling shot into the right side of the net. Manoel Neuer was left in no man's land by his defense there! Manoel Neuer made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Coronel Andres in the 42nd minute of play. Marco van Basten recieved an excellent pass in front of the goal in the 45th minute. Unfortunately, he received the ball on his off foot and could only manage a weak shot that went over the goal. They were losing 0-1.

The players of the away team seemed most concentrated when Xu Li Sang stepped up to make the kick off in the second half. Lúcio Cruz's shot was meant for the net just under the crossbar, but Şenol Güneş read the situation well and was quickly in position to make a wonderful save in the 58th minute of play. The audience thought a goal was coming when Seve Grau got free with Manoel Neuer in the 62nd minute, but the goalkeeper managed to catch the ball with a huge effort. After a rather tough play, Jovens Democratas MZC's Xu Li Sang got a free kick in the 63rd minute. La Mora CAT's Frank Alvarenga was substituted for Etor Benito. A collision led to Jovens Democratas MZC getting a freekick after 65 minutes play. Xu Li Sang hit a great ball. Jovens Democratas MZC's Jozef Ilve was substituted for Mexhit Koçi. 69 minutes into the match, Jovens Democratas MZC's goal looked a bit too open when Severino Coutinho came free, but Manoel Neuer reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. With a little luck, Jovens Democratas MZC's Manoel Neuer got control of the ball when Seve Grau tried to sneak it across the goal line. With a couple of smart ball manuevers Lúcio Cruz in the 73rd managed to get into a good position. With a left leg Şenol Güneş saved La Mora CAT from getting behind. After a defensive mix-up in La Mora CAT's zone, Xu Li Sang stole the ball and had only the goalie to beat. Şenol Güneş came out of the goal and Xu Li Sang tried to chip the ball over his head. To his dismay, the ball went over the crossbar and out of play. In the 79th minute Dobromir Zagrodny shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Şenol Güneş saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. In the 81st minute, Lúcio Cruz got an opportunity to score, but he didn't get a solid hit on the ball and ended up kicking it wide of the goal. La Mora CAT made a substitution. Wayne Rooney replaced Coronel Andres. Dobromir Zagrodny kicked well hit freekick during the 85th minute of the match. Manoel Neuer made a fantastic save in the 86th minute, when Severino Coutinho sent off a good shot on target. Şenol Güneş showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Xu Li Sang, who was totally free with the ball in the 89th minute.
