An unexpectedly hard shot by Jyrki Saarelainen in the 4th minute of play forced Voskresensk FC's goalkeeper Igor Akinfeev to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. 5 minutes into the match, Rovine Craiova's Jyrki Saarelainen sent off a blazing shot straight on target, a shot that Igor Akinfeev narrowly saved just below the crossbar. Jyrki Saarelainen might have been able to make a better finish in the 7th minute when he tried to place a hard shot over Igor Akinfeev. Instead the ball went over the crossbar and out. Jyrki Saarelainen ran back to his position shaking his head. 7 minutes into the match, Voskresensk FC's goal looked a bit too open when Jyrki Saarelainen came free, but Igor Akinfeev reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. In the 10th minute Rovine Craiova were awarded a corner. Marcel Turcescu went to the cornerflag to take it. Andrei Encescu was in a good position and managed to take a shot, but he missed just to the outside of the post. In the 12thth minute of the game Jyrki Saarelainen who was perfectly placed tried to make a shot on goal, but Voskresensk FC's Igor Akinfeev was lucky and managed to grab hold of the ball. Dorin Arșanu took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Dmitry Alenichev, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. Voskresensk FC's Igor Akinfeev played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Jyrki Saarelainen in the 24th minute of play. Marcel Turcescu received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 26th minute. Igor Akinfeev tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. When Jyrki Saarelainen came up free with the goalie in the 28th minute, the Rovine Craiova fans jumped to their feet. But the shot missed the goal by a fraction of an inch, and the fans sat back down disappointed that Jyrki Saarelainen couldn't finish the play. 33 minutes into the match, Marcel Turcescu had an open shot that he just couldn't miss and scored to the right of Igor Akinfeev. Voskresensk FC's manager could be seen yelling to the referee that Marcel Turcescu was offside, but the referee ignored the protest. 0-1. Voskresensk FC's Igor Akinfeev played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Jyrki Saarelainen in the 35th minute of play. Rovine Craiova's attacker deliberately struck the ball against an opponent to win a corner for his team. The corner was taken by Marcel Turcescu in the 38th minute. Andrei Encescu made a great header on Rovine Craiova's corner, it was just that Voskresensk FC's Igor Akinfeev managed to reach the ball for a save. Evgeniy Fomichev's shot straight on target was not completely harmless. The ball had pretty good speed, but Dorin Arșanu firmly grabbed it by the left post. After 47 minutes Voskresensk FC's defender was forced to head the ball over the line for a corner. It was Marcel Turcescu who took care of the corner kick. The corner ended in Petre Ştiopul almost managing to get the ball behind the net, but Voskresensk FC's Igor Akinfeev did a great save. Even after changing tactics the home team jogged off the field with a 0-1 deficit. They would have to work harder if they wanted to turn things around in the second half.

Both teams looked relatively alert before the second half when the referee blew his whistle to tell Danila Kolobov to make the kick off. Rovine Craiova's Dorin Arșanu played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Evgeniy Fomichev in the 52nd minute of play. Igor Akinfeev made an important save on a dangerous shot by Jyrki Saarelainen in the 54th minute. In the 55th minute of the match, Jyrki Saarelainen got a very nice opportunity to score, but Igor Akinfeev was well-placed and pushed the ball away from the goal at the left post. Jyrki Saarelainen who was well placed in front of the goal fired away a dangerous shot that in the 58thth minute tested the skills of Igor Akinfeev when he managed to save the team from getting behind. Rovine Craiova's supporters rose to their feet, but Jyrki Saarelainen was a bit off balance and shot the ball just wide of the left post. Igor Akinfeev breathed a sigh of relief and went to take the goal kick. A collision led to Rovine Craiova getting a freekick after 72 minutes play. Flavius Simionescu hit a great ball. The supporters of Rovine Craiova booed when Voskresensk FC was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 75 match minutes in a wonderful position. Artur Timoshin didn't get a good kick on the ball. Voskresensk FC's Igor Akinfeev proved his good apprehension of play when he, in the 78th minute of the match, managed to save Voskresensk FC from getting a goal against them. Dorin Arșanu showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Dmitry Alenichev, who was totally free with the ball in the 83rd minute. In the 92nd minute, Maksim Ilyuhin hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. Voskresensk FC's goalkeeper really had to stretch himself to stop the ball from crossing the goal line. Jyrki Saarelainen struck a weak shot in the 94th minute. Igor Akinfeev didn't even have to move as the ball rolled over the line well wide of the goal. A wasted opportunity for Rovine Craiova. The Voskresensk FC supporters were disappointed that their team didn't take anything from the match, despite matching Rovine Craiova's performance. The match ended with a win for Rovine Craiova.
