In the 4th minute, Össur Ármannsson got an opportunity to score, but he didn't get a solid hit on the ball and ended up kicking it wide of the goal. In the 8th minute, Austmar Hjaltason left the goalkeeper for dead before tapping the ball into the right side of the net. The Manchester United fans were clearly happy with the effort and the scoreboard reflected the new score: 1-0. The audience thought a goal was coming when Austmar Hjaltason got free with Kristmundur Þorkelsson in the 16th minute, but the goalkeeper managed to catch the ball with a huge effort. In the 21st match minute, Flink Kópaskeri was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Elbert Kjaransson to maneuver through the defense. Níls Margeirsson recieved an excellent pass in front of the goal in the 22nd minute. Unfortunately, he received the ball on his off foot and could only manage a weak shot that went over the goal. An unexpectedly hard shot by Kristmundur Knútsson in the 23rd minute of play forced Flink Kópaskeri's goalkeeper Kristmundur Þorkelsson to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. 24 minutes into the game, Austmar Hjaltason recieved a splendid long ball, split the defenders, and gently placed the ball to the left of Kristmundur Þorkelsson. Austmar Hjaltason showed that you don't have to tear a hole in the net to score, 4-0. Austmar Hjaltason's shot when he came free in front of the goal in the 27thth minute, Kristmundur Þorkelsson skillfully showed off with a save to what seemed to be an obvious goal. 29 minutes into the match, Flink Kópaskeri's goal looked a bit too open when Össur Ármannsson came free, but Kristmundur Þorkelsson reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. Össur Ármannsson could have scored with his fast shot on goal in the 31st minute of the match, but Kristmundur Þorkelsson made a huge save. Kristmundur Þorkelsson showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Kristmundur Knútsson, who was totally free with the ball in the 32nd minute. Austmar Hjaltason could have scored with his fast shot on goal in the 38th minute of the match, but Kristmundur Þorkelsson made a huge save. In the 42nd match minute, Manchester United was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Geirtryggur Sólbergsson to maneuver through the defense. Kristmundur Þorkelsson came out of the goal in the 45th minute to try and stop a shot by Manchester United's Austmar Hjaltason. But to his dismay, Austmar Hjaltason quickly shot the ball in between his legs and into the goal making it 5-0.
The players of the away team seemed most concentrated when Kristmundur Knútsson stepped up to make the kick off in the second half. Kristmundur Þorkelsson made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Austmar Hjaltason in the 51st minute of play. In the 53rd minute Össur Ármannsson shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Kristmundur Þorkelsson saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. After taking down the ball on Manchester United's corner Níls Margeirsson fired away a hard shot, but the defenders efficiently covered the most dangerous angles and Kristmundur Þorkelsson quite easily take care of the ball. Kristmundur Þorkelsson made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Austmar Hjaltason in the 59th minute of play. After a rather tough play, Flink Kópaskeri's Jochum Andrésson got a free kick in the 60th minute. In the 66th minute Austmar Hjaltason shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Kristmundur Þorkelsson saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. 67 minutes into the match, Manchester United's Geirfinnur Aronsson sent off a blazing shot straight on target, a shot that Kristmundur Þorkelsson narrowly saved just below the crossbar. Kristmundur Þorkelsson showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Össur Ármannsson, who was totally free with the ball in the 70th minute. The Manchester United fans' excitement grew in the 72nd match minute when Manchester United's Austmar Hjaltason looked to have a clear shot with the ball near the goal. The shot wasn't hard, but the ball still rolled over the goal line to make it 7-0 before the goalkeeper had a chance to intervene. In the 75th minute, Kristmundur Knútsson ran past the defenders and hit a shot which went straight ahead into goal. Kristmundur Þorkelsson was frozen by the shot and now it was 8-0. 78 minutes into the match, Össur Ármannsson notched a goal, 9-0, to the right of Flink Kópaskeri's Kristmundur Þorkelsson. Kristmundur Þorkelsson was clearly disgusted with the effort of the defense and let the defenders know about it. Flink Kópaskeri were furious when Hersir Vilmarsson was red carded, 81 minutes into the game, but the referee dismissed their protests. 80 minutes into the game, one of Flink Kópaskeri:s players got tackled near the goal, and the referee blew for a penalty. With a couple of smart ball manuevers Össur Ármannsson in the 90th managed to get into a good position. With a left leg Kristmundur Þorkelsson saved Flink Kópaskeri from getting behind. Kristmundur Þorkelsson took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Kristmundur Knútsson, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. It was no surprise that this one had ended in a win for the home team. Manchester United had played much better football throughout.
