Marcos Burni showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Jacinto Torres, who was totally free with the ball in the 13th minute. 15 minutes into the match, Waitakere F.C.'s goal looked a bit too open when Kurt Slaghmeulders came free, but Marcos Burni reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. After a defensive mix-up in Waitakere F.C.'s zone, Kurt Slaghmeulders stole the ball and had only the goalie to beat. Marcos Burni came out of the goal and Kurt Slaghmeulders tried to chip the ball over his head. To his dismay, the ball went over the crossbar and out of play. In the 29th minute, Kurt Slaghmeulders ran past the defenders and hit a shot which went straight ahead into goal. Marcos Burni was frozen by the shot and now it was 0-1. An unexpectedly hard shot by Piara Santo in the 35th minute of play forced Haithabu FC's goalkeeper Fabian Söderström to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. Marcos Burni showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Ramzi Drouart in the 36th minute of the match. In the 39th minute the ball was on its way in behind Waitakere F.C.'s goalkeeper Marcos Burni, but with the help of a sacrificing defense, he could catch the ball at the crossbar. 40 minutes had been played when some careless play by Waitakere F.C.'s defense caused the ball to cross the line for a corner. Adrian Astigar was slow to take the kick. During this time Haithabu FC's players had a chance to rest. The corner led Haithabu FC's Adrian Astigar to fire away a dangerous shot which Marcos Burni despite some difficulties managed to get hold on the ball. After 43 minutes, Jairo Virila mouthed his way into the referee's book. The tension between the Waitakere F.C. and the Haithabu FC players grew even worse after the yellow card. Jairo Virila kicked well hit freekick during the 43rd minute of the match.

Waitakere F.C. made a substitution. Nacho Scocco replaced Gar Gamel. Waitakere F.C.'s Gabriel Batistuta was substituted for Piara Santo. The players of the away team seemed most concentrated when Gabriel Batistuta stepped up to make the kick off in the second half. Haithabu FC's Fabian Söderström played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Eduardo Vasco in the 53rd minute of play. After taking down the ball on Haithabu FC's corner Ramzi Drouart fired away a hard shot, but the defenders efficiently covered the most dangerous angles and Marcos Burni quite easily take care of the ball. Marcos Burni made an important save on a dangerous shot by Simon Blomquist in the 60th minute. Haithabu FC's Fabian Söderström played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Eduardo Vasco in the 64th minute of play. Thanks to some nice moves Ramzi Drouart could shoot a difficult shot in the 67th minute, which Marcos Burni however easily saved by the left post. Fabian Söderström stood for a superb save when he managed to get hold of Nacho Scocco's shot from short distance in the 69th minute. The audience was convinced that Nacho Scocco's extremely hard shot when he got free in front of the goal was going in, but Fabian Söderström was relentless in the 69th minute of the game. Fabian Söderström made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Gabriel Batistuta in the 78th minute of play. 79 minutes into the match, Haithabu FC's goal looked a bit too open when Nacho Scocco came free, but Fabian Söderström reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line.
