If Paul Case had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 12th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. Michael Leslie took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Augusto Zinni, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. When Fausto Di Ruscio came up free with the goalie in the 27th minute, the Poggio fans jumped to their feet. But the shot missed the goal by a fraction of an inch, and the fans sat back down disappointed that Fausto Di Ruscio couldn't finish the play. Poggio's Fausto Di Ruscio got a good chance for a goal in the 30th minute, but he totally mistimed the shot and it went over the crossbar. When the match had gone on for 37 minutes, Fausto Di Ruscio put it in 2-1 from a short distance just to the right of Michael Leslie. After 40 played minutes Wordsley City got a freekick which was hit by Grant Haylock. In the 41st minute Augusto Zinni shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Michael Leslie saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. Af the end of the first half the score was 2-1. The first half had gone as expected for the home team.

Armin Salerni made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Paul Case in the 77th minute of play. In the 77th minute, Paul Case left the goalkeeper for dead before tapping the ball into the right side of the net. The Wordsley City fans were clearly happy with the effort and the scoreboard reflected the new score: 4-2. In the 85th minute Harvey Halford shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Armin Salerni saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. 88 minutes into the match, Wordsley City's goalkeeper Michael Leslie had to clear away a ball on his right side after a cunning shot by Fausto Di Ruscio. Poggio's Armin Salerni played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Conal Sinclair in the 96th minute of play. If Paul Case had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 97th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead.
