US Albenga's goalie ran out to the linesman to protest the call, but the linesman resolutely pointed his flag at the cornerflag. Trifon Ivanov ran over to the corner to take the kick. Manchester United FC's Trifon Ivanov was first on the ball when the corner was shot and he dangerously headed the ball towards goal, but Alex Pacella in the goal jumped up to prevent it from getting in. A collision led to Manchester United FC getting a freekick after 6 minutes play. Yan Yuan Shi hit a great ball. With his leg Dieguinho Paraíba managed to avoid a goal in the 12thth minute, when US Albenga's Anfilogino Melone fired away a shot with a lot of spin towards his right hand side. In the 13th minute, Eusebius Smolarek ran past the defenders and hit a shot which went straight ahead into goal. Alex Pacella was frozen by the shot and now it was 0-1. 19 minutes into the match, US Albenga's goal looked a bit too open when Eusebius Smolarek came free, but Alex Pacella reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. Daniele Panella received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 36th minute. Dieguinho Paraíba tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. The audience was convinced that Anfilogino Melone's extremely hard shot when he got free in front of the goal was going in, but Dieguinho Paraíba was relentless in the 38th minute of the game. With a little luck, Manchester United FC's Dieguinho Paraíba got control of the ball when Daniele Panella tried to sneak it across the goal line. Junior Shevchenko took the ball and in the 47 minute, shot a rapid shot to the right of a surprised Alex Pacella. Alex Pacella dived to the right, and did manage to get a hand on the shot, but it still went into the right corner making it 0-3. Even after changing tactics the home team jogged off the field with a 0-3 deficit. They would have to work harder if they wanted to turn things around in the second half.

With a couple of smart ball manuevers Elia Di Dio in the 56th managed to get into a good position. With a left leg Dieguinho Paraíba saved Manchester United FC from getting behind. An unexpectedly hard shot by Eusebius Smolarek in the 57th minute of play forced US Albenga's goalkeeper Alex Pacella to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. 俞谦平 came free with the goalkeeper in the 58th minute of the match, and shot straight on target. The shot was a little too simple and Alex Pacella could save by the left post. A collision led to US Albenga getting a freekick after 60 minutes play. Anfilogino Melone hit a great ball. 俞谦平 could have scored with his fast shot on goal in the 61st minute of the match, but Alex Pacella made a huge save. 64 minutes into the match, US Albenga's Elia Di Dio sent off a blazing shot straight on target, a shot that Dieguinho Paraíba narrowly saved just below the crossbar. In the 66th minute US Albenga were awarded a corner. Ermanno Cavallaro went to the cornerflag to take it. A nice corner shot did that Ermanno Cavallaro got away a dangerous shot. Despite this Dieguinho Paraíba quite easily got ahold of the ball to make the save. 74 minutes into the match, US Albenga's goal looked a bit too open when Ed 冯义升 came free, but Alex Pacella reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. Alvise Restaino kicked well hit freekick during the 75th minute of the match. After some careless play in the US Albenga defense, 俞谦平 kicked a shot that curved into the net to the right of Alex Pacella. The US Albenga fans voiced their displeasure as they felt that Alex Pacella should have stopped the shot. After some fancy dribbling in the 86th minute, Elia Di Dio managed to get in a good position for a shot. US Albenga's supporters rose to their feet, but Elia Di Dio was a bit off balance and shot the ball just wide of the left post. Dieguinho Paraíba breathed a sigh of relief and went to take the goal kick. US Albenga's Alex Pacella proved his good apprehension of play when he, in the 90th minute of the match, managed to save US Albenga from getting a goal against them. After a rather tough play, Manchester United FC's Ed 冯义升 got a free kick in the 99th minute. When the match was over Manchester United FC could go home with a victory in their luggage, having controlled the game far better than US Albenga throughout the match.
