Fabio Maldonado was left in no man's land by his defense there! Sporting Cristal's Claudinei Suarbol was substituted for Ivon Curiel. Fernanco Peso's shot was meant for the net just under the crossbar, but Fabio Maldonado read the situation well and was quickly in position to make a wonderful save in the 71st minute of play. After having played for 73 minutes, Fernanco Peso managed to get in a good position for a shot on goal. Sporting Cristal's supporters crossed their fingers, but Fernanco Peso was, after a quick turn that froze the defenders, out of balance and shot the ball just to the right of the goal. Jon Iruegas made an important save on a dangerous shot by Fabián Fuentes in the 76th minute. Jon Iruegas showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Eustaquio Rumaldo in the 79th minute of the match. Sporting Cristal made a substitution. Christian Luciano replaced Fernanco Peso. After a rather tough play, Sporting Cristal's Cazimir Gogea got a free kick in the 82nd minute. After recieving a nice pass, Once Virgos FC's Silverio Paulin tried to score from far away in the 83rd minute, but the ball went over the crossbar. With a little luck, Sporting Cristal's Jon Iruegas got control of the ball when Jorginho Bertassi tried to sneak it across the goal line. After 90 played minutes Once Virgos FC got a freekick which was hit by Florencio Oalo. If Ronaldão Nogueira had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 92nd minute. The ball went over the crossbar instead. Cazimir Gogea's late challenge caught a Once Virgos FC's player on the shin and left him crawling around in pain. The referee blew his whistle and produced the yellow card. Cazimir Gogea helped the player get up and apologised. After a rather tough play, Sporting Cristal's Cazimir Gogea got a free kick in the 96th minute. When Silverio Paulin came up free with the goalie in the 97th minute, the Once Virgos FC fans jumped to their feet. But the shot missed the goal by a fraction of an inch, and the fans sat back down disappointed that Silverio Paulin couldn't finish the play. For all the effort they put into the match, the Once Virgos FC players left disappointed. They had fought hard, but couldn't break down the home team's defense. The match ended in a win for Sporting Cristal.
