Antonio Valente could have scored with his fast shot on goal in the 10th minute of the match, but Fernando Selatse made a huge save. Kajetan Gdowik scored 0-1 in the 12th match minute with a shot that went into the goal to the right of Jeremy Nicholas, who was just a little too slow in reacting to the shot. A collision led to Despidida AFC getting a freekick after 16 minutes play. Feliksas Fenichev hit a great ball. Jeremy Nicholas stood for a superb save when he managed to get hold of Dinu Ivănescu's shot from short distance in the 20th minute. Despidida AFC were awarded a corner in the 24th minute after New England Minas's defender lost control of the ball, allowing it to roll out over the line. Gabriel Silban took the corner. An unexpectedly hard shot by Edgardo Silva in the 32nd minute of play forced Despidida AFC's goalkeeper Fernando Selatse to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. After some careless play in the Despidida AFC defense, Edgardo Silva kicked a shot that curved into the net to the right of Fernando Selatse. The Despidida AFC fans voiced their displeasure as they felt that Fernando Selatse should have stopped the shot. 39 minutes into the game, Alvaro Raymond cracked a shot to the right of the goalkeeper, 1-2. Jeremy Nicholas was not in position, and could only watch the ball fly in. After 42 played minutes Despidida AFC got a freekick which was hit by Gabriel Silban. Thanks to some nice moves Tio Lio could shoot a difficult shot in the 44th minute, which Fernando Selatse however easily saved by the left post. Even after changing tactics the home team jogged off the field with a 1-2 deficit. They would have to work harder if they wanted to turn things around in the second half.

Both teams looked relatively alert before the second half when the referee blew his whistle to tell Edgardo Silva to make the kick off. Despidida AFC's Fernando Selatse played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Edgardo Silva in the 53rd minute of play. New England Minas's Jeremy Nicholas proved his good apprehension of play when he, in the 58th minute of the match, managed to save New England Minas from getting a goal against them. After some fancy dribbling in the 63rd minute, Alvaro Raymond managed to get in a good position for a shot. Despidida AFC's supporters rose to their feet, but Alvaro Raymond was a bit off balance and shot the ball just wide of the left post. Jeremy Nicholas breathed a sigh of relief and went to take the goal kick. New England Minas's Ye Gang Cheng was substituted for Lalo Rosas. Despidida AFC's Ancho Branca was substituted for Dinu Ivănescu. New England Minas's Zachery Church was substituted for Roman Major. Fernando Selatse took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Edgardo Silva, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. When Robert Percha came up free with the goalie in the 69th minute, the Despidida AFC fans jumped to their feet. But the shot missed the goal by a fraction of an inch, and the fans sat back down disappointed that Robert Percha couldn't finish the play. In the 71st minute Edgardo Silva shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Fernando Selatse saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. Fernando Selatse took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Edgardo Silva, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. When Robert Percha came up free with the goalie in the 75th minute, the Despidida AFC fans jumped to their feet. But the shot missed the goal by a fraction of an inch, and the fans sat back down disappointed that Robert Percha couldn't finish the play. Robert Percha received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 78th minute. Jeremy Nicholas tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. Fernando Selatse took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Edgardo Silva, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. Fernando Selatse made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Tio Lio in the 82nd minute of play. 84 minutes into the game, Despidida AFC's Robert Percha nearly tore a hole in the net with a booming shot. Jeremy Nicholas made a valiant effort, but he could not reach the ball in time, 1-3. New England Minas's Arturo Sito was substituted for Tio Lio. Fernando Selatse showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Arturo Sito, who was totally free with the ball in the 89th minute. Fernando Selatse took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Arturo Sito, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. Robert Percha could have scored with his fast shot on goal in the 90th minute of the match, but Jeremy Nicholas made a huge save. Despidida AFC's supporters were very happy and cheered loudly because their team had won after a very close match.
