With a little luck, Racing Club's Olavo Henriques got control of the ball when Özkan Kayaer tried to sneak it across the goal line. In the 22nd minute Boca Juniors were awarded a corner. İskender Baki Sabi scored 0-1 in the 27th match minute with a shot that went into the goal to the right of Jens-Åke Källberg, who was just a little too slow in reacting to the shot. 32 minutes into the match, Boca Juniors's goal looked a bit too open when Xamo Melic came free, but Jens-Åke Källberg reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. With a couple of smart ball manuevers İskender Baki Sabi in the 36th managed to get into a good position. With a left leg Jens-Åke Källberg saved Boca Juniors from getting behind. Olavo Henriques stood for a superb save when he managed to get hold of Torgny Landin's shot from short distance in the 38th minute. In the 40th minute Torgny Landin shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Olavo Henriques saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. Boca Juniors's Jiang Xuan Nan was substituted for Niklas Kjellberg. Disappointed in the 0-1 score, the home team went to the dressing room to adjust tactics for the second half.

The wind increased when İskender Baki Sabi made the kick off in the second half. In the 54th minute of the game Vilhelm Holm made a throw-in which Gerd Della played forward. Olavo Henriques made a valiant effort, but he could not reach the ball in time, 3-2. Jens-Åke Källberg was out of position in the 97 minute of play, and Geronimo Salomone capitalized on the mistake with a soft shot into the goal. Geronimo Salomone really showed his touch with that goal: 3-3.
