Nacho González took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Leopoldo Jacinto Luque, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. 16 minutes into the game, Leopoldo Jacinto Luque cracked a shot to the right of the goalkeeper, 1-0. Nacho González was not in position, and could only watch the ball fly in. If Leopoldo Jacinto Luque had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 19th minute. The ball went over the crossbar instead. Leopoldo Jacinto Luque received a nice pass, split the defenders, and ran untouched towards the goal. Nacho González came out and tried to block the shot, but Leopoldo Jacinto Luque slotted it home off the left post making it 2-0 in the 24th minute. After a rather tough play, Astillero del Guayas's Clóvis Lima got a free kick in the 27th minute. If Silvério Vargas had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 31st minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. Leopoldo Jacinto Luque blasted a shot towards the goal in the 33rd minute, but the shot hit the top of the crossbar and went out without Nacho González having to make a save. Nacho González made a fantastic save in the 33rd minute, when Leopoldo Jacinto Luque sent off a good shot on target. Leopoldo Jacinto Luque could have scored with his fast shot on goal in the 42nd minute of the match, but Nacho González made a huge save. Nacho González came out of the goal in the 43rd minute to try and stop a shot by Ríver Late's Leopoldo Jacinto Luque. But to his dismay, Leopoldo Jacinto Luque quickly shot the ball in between his legs and into the goal making it 4-0. After 46 minutes, Lalo Vitoria mouthed his way into the referee's book. The tension between the Ríver Late and the Astillero del Guayas players grew even worse after the yellow card. After a rather tough play, Ríver Late's Lalo Vitoria got a free kick in the 46th minute. The away team players looked dejected as the walked off the pitch at half time. They had fought hard, but were still losing 4-0.

Both teams looked relatively alert before the second half when the referee blew his whistle to tell Leopoldo Jacinto Luque to make the kick off. After 52 played minutes Astillero del Guayas got a freekick which was hit by Clóvis Lima. Through an outstanding action, after 55 minutes, Adam Adamski successfully got his hands on the ball before it slid into the goal at the right post. 56 minutes into the match, Astillero del Guayas's goal looked a bit too open when Leopoldo Jacinto Luque came free, but Nacho González reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. With an extended leg and a bit of luck Nacho González prevented the ball from getting in the gole. Astillero del Guayas's Nacho González played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Paolo Musko in the 84th minute of play. With a little luck, Ríver Late's Adam Adamski got control of the ball when Ulizes Sola tried to sneak it across the goal line. If Luís Dias had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 87th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. The audience was convinced that Luís Dias's extremely hard shot when he got free in front of the goal was going in, but Nacho González was relentless in the 90th minute of the game. 92 minutes into the match, Paolo Musko had an open shot that he just couldn't miss and scored to the right of Nacho González. Astillero del Guayas's manager could be seen yelling to the referee that Paolo Musko was offside, but the referee ignored the protest. 5-0. After 95 played minutes Astillero del Guayas got a freekick which was hit by Ulizes Sola. Nacho González stood for a superb save when he managed to get hold of Luís Dias's shot from short distance in the 97th minute. Astillero del Guayas's supporters were dissatisfied at the end of the match because Ríver Late had won, even though Astillero del Guayas had held more of the ball.
