When the match clock showed 21 minutes, the score became 1-0 when Andrey Kovtun sped through Brazil's defense and sent away a curving shot that went into the net to the right of Isaac Ferreira. Przemyslaw Tscherner made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Saulão Chettle in the 30th minute of play. In the 31st minute of the match Brazil got a corner. Joe Sulser made in the 38th minute of the game a sloppy throw-in which Andrey Kovtun however managed to control. 44 minutes into the match, Brazil's goalkeeper Isaac Ferreira had to clear away a ball on his right side after a cunning shot by Perivaldo Loyola. Brazil's attentive Lothar Matthäus managed to snatch the ball when Joe Sulser made a throw-in in the 46th minute of the game. The home fans were very happy to see their team leading 1-0 at half-time.

Both teams looked relatively alert before the second half when the referee blew his whistle to tell Benjamin da Fonseca to make the kick off. 52 minutes into the game, Benjamin da Fonseca recieved a splendid long ball, split the defenders, and gently placed the ball to the left of Przemyslaw Tscherner. Benjamin da Fonseca showed that you don't have to tear a hole in the net to score, 1-1. The audience thought a goal was coming when Maurinho Mendonça got free with Przemyslaw Tscherner in the 88th minute, but the goalkeeper managed to catch the ball with a huge effort. After taking down the ball on Brazil's corner Celsinho Perez fired away a hard shot, but the defenders efficiently covered the most dangerous angles and Przemyslaw Tscherner quite easily take care of the ball. Neither set of supporters seemed pleased with the draw, but both teams had played equally well today.
