This resulted in a 1-0 score and a disappointed Brookes Mapps as he didn't even see the shot coming. The audience thought a goal was coming when Silas Barbosa got free with Brookes Mapps in the 7th minute, but the goalkeeper managed to catch the ball with a huge effort. A collision led to London reds getting a freekick after 8 minutes play. Ben Barling hit a great ball. In the 12th minute, London reds's goalie took a deep sigh of relief after Antônio Carlos Freitas fired away a hard shot that went just outside the left post. Rafa Pires took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Ben Barling, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. An unexpectedly hard shot by Zackery Lander in the 16th minute of play forced Niterói FC's goalkeeper Rafa Pires to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. With an all-out effort, Niterói FC's Brookes Mapps threw himself towards the right post 17 minutes into the match and grabbed hold of the ball from Silas Barbosa, which otherwise would have been placed in the net. Geovani Bezerra fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 18th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Brookes Mapps having to interfere. 21 minutes into the match, London reds's Bert Rishton sent off a blazing shot straight on target, a shot that Rafa Pires narrowly saved just below the crossbar. In the last second Brookes Mapps throw himself and got hold of the ball when Silas Barbosa in the 22ndth minute from his position got away a shot towards the right post. If Geovani Bezerra had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 23rd minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. London reds's Brookes Mapps proved his good apprehension of play when he, in the 29th minute of the match, managed to save London reds from getting a goal against them. 33 minutes into the game, Antônio Carlos Freitas recieved a splendid long ball, split the defenders, and gently placed the ball to the left of Brookes Mapps. Antônio Carlos Freitas showed that you don't have to tear a hole in the net to score, 4-0. The audience thought a goal was coming when Ciro Martins got free with Brookes Mapps in the 37th minute, but the goalkeeper managed to catch the ball with a huge effort. Silas Barbosa blasted a shot towards the goal in the 41st minute, but the shot hit the top of the crossbar and went out without Brookes Mapps having to make a save. If Geovani Bezerra had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 42nd minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. Lenílson Ferreira hit a great freekick 43 minutes into the match. The referee was alert and spotted a serious foul by Calvin Holdsworth during the 45th minute. When the second half was about to start, both teams quickly lined up and Byrne Fallen made a kick off. A collision led to London reds getting a freekick after 52 minutes play. But to his dismay, Silas Barbosa quickly shot the ball in between his legs and into the goal making it 7-0. The referee was alert and spotted a serious foul by Silas Barbosa during the 73rd minute. The player immediately received a yellow card. In the 73rd match minute, Niterói FC was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Silas Barbosa to maneuver through the defense. With an all-out effort, London reds's Rafa Pires threw himself towards the right post 75 minutes into the match and grabbed hold of the ball from Corey Boston, which otherwise would have been placed in the net. Brookes Mapps made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Antônio Carlos Freitas in the 80th minute of play. Silas Barbosa received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 82nd minute. Brookes Mapps tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. He fired away a shot at goal, but the shot had too much spin, and it went just outside the goal. London reds's manager breathed a sigh of relief on the sidelines as his team had managed to escape an almost certain goal. After a defensive mix-up in London reds's zone, Antônio Carlos Freitas stole the ball and had only the goalie to beat. Brookes Mapps came out of the goal and Antônio Carlos Freitas tried to chip the ball over his head. To his dismay, the ball went over the crossbar and out of play.
