The crowd had been anticipating this game for weeks and the excitement in the stadium was easily visible. But to his dismay, Olli Fiedler quickly shot the ball in between his legs and into the goal making it 0-1. Thanks to some nice moves Constantijn Airpoel could shoot a difficult shot in the 19th minute, which Robert Davison however easily saved by the left post. Gençlerbirliği were awarded a corner in the 21th minute after Sportivo Luan Toro's defender lost control of the ball, allowing it to roll out over the line. Stanislaw Rekowski took the corner. Stanislaw Rekowski made a great header on Gençlerbirliği's corner, it was just that Sportivo Luan Toro's Robert Davison managed to reach the ball for a save. Robert Davison made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Muharrem Sebih in the 23rd minute of play. Robert Davison came out of the goal in the 30th minute to try and stop a shot by Gençlerbirliği's Constantijn Airpoel. But to his dismay, Constantijn Airpoel quickly shot the ball in between his legs and into the goal making it 1-1. With a little luck, Sportivo Luan Toro's Robert Davison got control of the ball when Cafer Korcan tried to sneak it across the goal line. Marcelino Lacalle showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Justino Roland in the 35th minute of the match. Robert Davison made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Muharrem Sebih in the 44th minute of play. Olli Fiedler hit a great freekick 45 minutes into the match. After a very even first half the match was still tied. The players went to their respective dressing rooms to discuss the tactics for the second half.

The wind increased when Muharrem Sebih made the kick off in the second half. Robert Davison stood for a superb save when he managed to get hold of Constantijn Airpoel's shot from short distance in the 64th minute. 68 minutes into the match, Sportivo Luan Toro's Justino Roland sent off a blazing shot straight on target, a shot that Marcelino Lacalle narrowly saved just below the crossbar. Gençlerbirliği's Marcelino Lacalle proved his good apprehension of play when he, in the 71st minute of the match, managed to save Gençlerbirliği from getting a goal against them. An unexpectedly hard shot by Justino Roland in the 72nd minute of play forced Gençlerbirliği's goalkeeper Marcelino Lacalle to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. Marcelino Lacalle showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Alberto Fidencio, who was totally free with the ball in the 73rd minute. An unexpectedly hard shot by Alberto Fidencio in the 79th minute of play forced Gençlerbirliği's goalkeeper Marcelino Lacalle to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. When the referee blew the final whistle, you could see the dissatisfaction in the Sportivo Luan Toro players' eyes. They were disappointed they hadn't taken more from the game.
