Adil Gabet sent away a hard shot on goal in the 13th minute, but the ball hit the crossbar and went out. A very good chance for a goal. A collision led to CSM Catunele getting a freekick after 15 minutes play. Flavius Tulbure hit a great ball. In the 16th minute, Adil Gabet made a precise shot to the right of Andrei Arbore. CSM Catunele's defense was at fault, and the scoreboard reflected the new score, 1-0. Dylan Guénin took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Șerban Oblemenco, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. Adil Gabet could have scored with his fast shot on goal in the 27th minute of the match, but Andrei Arbore made a huge save. In the 29th minute Lyon were awarded a corner. Ewan Poulin went to the cornerflag to take it. When Șerban Oblemenco fell near the penalty area in the 33rd minute he thought he would be awarded a free kick. The referee ignored CSM Catunele's protests and gave Șerban Oblemenco a yellow card for diving instead. After 33 played minutes CSM Catunele got a freekick which was hit by Șerban Oblemenco. In the 40th minute, Adil Gabet left the goalkeeper for dead before tapping the ball into the right side of the net. The Lyon fans were clearly happy with the effort and the scoreboard reflected the new score: 3-0. After a rather tough play, Lyon's Jean-Marc Coquerel got a free kick in the 43rd minute. Redouane Meslet hit a great freekick 47 minutes into the match. An unexpectedly hard shot by Victor Băncilă in the 48th minute of play forced Lyon's goalkeeper Dylan Guénin to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. The away team players looked dejected as the walked off the pitch at half time. They had fought hard, but were still losing 3-0.

Dylan Guénin made an important save on a dangerous shot by Nicu Furdui in the 53rd minute. If Ryan Gaschet had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 54th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. Nicu Furdui struck a weak shot in the 61st minute. Dylan Guénin didn't even have to move as the ball rolled over the line well wide of the goal. A wasted opportunity for CSM Catunele. Andrei Arbore came out of the goal in the 66th minute to try and stop a shot by Lyon's Ryan Gaschet. But to his dismay, Ryan Gaschet quickly shot the ball in between his legs and into the goal making it 4-1. Ryan Gaschet scored 5-1 in the 69th match minute with a shot that went into the goal to the right of Andrei Arbore, who was just a little too slow in reacting to the shot. After 72 played minutes, Lyon's Jean-Marc Coquerel shot from a long distance, and at first it looked like the ball was going into the goal, but the goalkeeper Andrei Arbore came through and got his fingers on the ball before it flew over the goal line. He then quickly gripped the ball tighter before the forwards in Lyon reached it. Andrei Arbore took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Adil Gabet, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. Redouane Meslet lost his temper 78 minutes into the game and shoved another player to the ground. He was immediately shown a red card. After 78 minutes of play, the referee blew the whistle. It was a penalty for Lyon! Victor Băncilă shot the penalty kick by force right in the crossbar. No goal. Lyon made a substitution. Patxi Largilliere replaced Ewan Poulin. After some fancy dribbling in the 85th minute, Jean-Cyrille Bellot managed to get in a good position for a shot. Lyon's supporters rose to their feet, but Jean-Cyrille Bellot was a bit off balance and shot the ball just wide of the left post. Andrei Arbore breathed a sigh of relief and went to take the goal kick. Ryan Gaschet took the ball and in the 87 minute, shot a rapid shot to the right of a surprised Andrei Arbore. Andrei Arbore dived to the right, and did manage to get a hand on the shot, but it still went into the right corner making it 6-1. Jean-Marc Coquerel kicked well hit freekick during the 89th minute of the match.

The home crowd let out a huge roar when the referee blew for the end of the game. Lyon were victorious despite being under pressure from CSM Catunele for much of the match.
