A fine initiative that could have resulted in a goal. In the 6th match minute, Valencia CF Mindszent was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Gábor Joó to maneuver through the defense. Valencia CF Mindszent's Rene Higuita played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Paulus Van Poucke in the 9th minute of play. Rene Higuita took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Nemanja Vidić, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. In the 21st minute the ball was on its way in behind Maravilla's goalkeeper Facundo Altamirano, but with the help of a sacrificing defense, he could catch the ball at the crossbar. The corner ended in Godofredo Marin almost managing to get the ball behind the net, but Valencia CF Mindszent's Rene Higuita did a great save. The supporters of Valencia CF Mindszent booed when Maravilla was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 28 match minutes in a wonderful position. Elias Figueroa didn't get a good kick on the ball. The first half was very even, with the score at 1-1 when the whistle went for half-time. The players welcomed the break and quickly retired to the dressing rooms.

The hometeam waved at the audience when it was time for Godofredo Marin to strike the kick off in the second half.
