Olaf Schreiber showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Job Hebels, who was totally free with the ball in the 5th minute. After some careless play in the FC Basel 2024 defense, Job Hebels kicked a shot that curved into the net to the right of Olaf Schreiber. The FC Basel 2024 fans voiced their displeasure as they felt that Olaf Schreiber should have stopped the shot. When Bill Ridder came up free with the goalie in the 11th minute, the Wolfsberg HC fans jumped to their feet. But the shot missed the goal by a fraction of an inch, and the fans sat back down disappointed that Bill Ridder couldn't finish the play. With a couple of smart ball manuevers Lutger Schreiber in the 13th managed to get into a good position. With a left leg Roelof Palsma saved Wolfsberg HC from getting behind. With his leg Olaf Schreiber managed to avoid a goal in the 14thth minute, when Wolfsberg HC's Leon Steelman fired away a shot with a lot of spin towards his right hand side. Olaf Schreiber made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Job Hebels in the 16th minute of play. If Leon Steelman had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 20th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. With a couple of smart ball manuevers Job Hebels in the 23rd managed to get into a good position. With a left leg Olaf Schreiber saved FC Basel 2024 from getting behind. Thanks to some nice foot action and superb ball handling Lutger Schreiber in the 29th minute a chance for a shot on goal. With an extended leg and a bit of luck Roelof Palsma prevented the ball from getting in the gole. In the 37th minute, Lutger Schreiber made a precise shot to the right of Roelof Palsma. Wolfsberg HC's defense was at fault, and the scoreboard reflected the new score, 1-1. FC Basel 2024's Olaf Schreiber played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Job Hebels in the 45th minute of play. 46 minutes into the game, Paulin Feldmann was given a yellow card after he appeared to trip an opposing player. FC Basel 2024's manager was livid on the sidelines, but the referee was unmoved and gave Wolfsberg HC the free kick. Paulin Feldmann kicked well hit freekick during the 46th minute of the match. Leon Steelman recieved an excellent pass in front of the goal in the 47th minute. Unfortunately, he received the ball on his off foot and could only manage a weak shot that went over the goal. After a very even first half the match was still tied. The players went to their respective dressing rooms to discuss the tactics for the second half.

The hometeam waved at the audience when it was time for Lutger Schreiber to strike the kick off in the second half. The supporters of FC Basel 2024 booed when Wolfsberg HC was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 94 match minutes in a wonderful position. Chiel Rolink didn't get a good kick on the ball. Chiel Rolink was astounded when the referee showed him the red card after a seemingly innocent challenge, 97 minutes into the match. After 96 minutes of play, the referee blew the whistle. It was a penalty for Wolfsberg HC! When the match had been going on for 99 minutes, FC Basel 2024's Gunther Montandon got an opportunity to shoot a penalty. He stayed cool and waited for the goalkeeper to move, before he confidently shot the ball into the goal, to the left of Roelof Palsma. The FC Basel 2024 supporters could be heard counting down the last seconds of the match. They errupted in celebration when the whistle blew, knowing FC Basel 2024 would go home with victory in their luggage after a match that easily could have ended differently.
