But to his dismay, Nguyễn Viet quickly shot the ball in between his legs and into the goal making it 0-1. Chung Chuong fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 6th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without 江朋竞 having to interfere. Nguyễn Viet blasted a shot towards the goal in the 9th minute, but the shot hit the top of the crossbar and went out without 江朋竞 having to make a save. 楚国峰 could have scored with his fast shot on goal in the 12th minute of the match, but Trần Hong made a huge save. In the 16th minute, Huỳnh Anh Hung hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. The supporters of FC Pepsi booed when Chi Minh City was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 17 match minutes in a wonderful position. Đinh Phu didn't get a good kick on the ball. 20 minutes into the match, Chi Minh City's goalkeeper Trần Hong had to clear away a ball on his right side after a cunning shot by 楚国峰. Đinh Phu's late challenge caught a FC Pepsi's player on the shin and left him crawling around in pain. The referee blew his whistle and produced the yellow card. Đinh Phu helped the player get up and apologised. In the 20th minute, Đinh Phu hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. 24 minutes into the game, 楚国峰 cracked a shot to the right of the goalkeeper, 1-1. Trần Hong was not in position, and could only watch the ball fly in. The crowd rose to their feet as FC Pepsi's 杜凌斌 slotted home a wonderful shot that went in to the left of Trần Hong. That made the score 2-1 after 28 minutes of play. In the 31st minute, Nguyễn Phuoc hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. 江朋竞 stood for a superb save when he managed to get hold of Nguyễn Viet's shot from short distance in the 33rd minute. Đinh Phu received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 34th minute. 江朋竞 tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. 40 minutes into the match, Chi Minh City's goal looked a bit too open when 杜凌斌 came free, but Trần Hong reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. After some fancy dribbling in the 43rd minute, 楚国峰 managed to get in a good position for a shot. FC Pepsi's supporters rose to their feet, but 楚国峰 was a bit off balance and shot the ball just wide of the left post. Trần Hong breathed a sigh of relief and went to take the goal kick. All the noise was coming from the home fans when the whistle went for half-time. The home team had fought hardest to put themselves in a deserved lead.

The hometeam waved at the audience when it was time for 杜凌斌 to strike the kick off in the second half. Trần Hong showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from 楚国峰, who was totally free with the ball in the 51st minute. Đặng Xuan kicked well hit freekick during the 54th minute of the match. 56 minutes into the match, Chi Minh City's goal looked a bit too open when 楚国峰 came free, but Trần Hong reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. In the 58th minute, 康彬银 hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. 60 minutes in the game, Nguyễn Viet fired away an excellent shot, which passed to the side of the right post without 江朋竞 having to interfere. Trần Hong showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from 杜凌斌 in the 61st minute of the match. After 63 played minutes Chi Minh City got a freekick which was hit by Đặng Xuan. 任延朋 made in the 66th minute of the game a throw-in that took a bad bounce and was taken care of by Chi Minh City's Nguyễn Phuoc. After a defensive mix-up in FC Pepsi's zone, Nguyễn Viet stole the ball and had only the goalie to beat. 江朋竞 came out of the goal and Nguyễn Viet tried to chip the ball over his head. To his dismay, the ball went over the crossbar and out of play. An unexpectedly hard shot by Nguyễn Viet in the 70th minute of play forced FC Pepsi's goalkeeper 江朋竞 to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. 75 minutes into the match, Chi Minh City's goal looked a bit too open when 康彬银 came free, but Trần Hong reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. Đặng Thuyet fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 81st minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without 江朋竞 having to interfere. If Nguyễn Viet had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 88th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. After some fancy dribbling in the 90th minute, Chung Chuong managed to get in a good position for a shot. Chi Minh City's supporters rose to their feet, but Chung Chuong was a bit off balance and shot the ball just wide of the left post. 江朋竞 breathed a sigh of relief and went to take the goal kick. Chi Minh City were clearly unhappy with the draw, as they felt they had done enough to earn themselves a victory.
