In the 14thth minute of the game Dário Prada who was perfectly placed tried to make a shot on goal, but ionion's Fabio Abalos was lucky and managed to grab hold of the ball. Jaime Veronica's late challenge caught a ionion's player on the shin and left him crawling around in pain. The referee blew his whistle and produced the yellow card. Jaime Veronica helped the player get up and apologised. In a very dangerous position, a player in Los Hornos fell when an opponent tried to get the ball from him in the 15th minute. Penalty! In the 17th minute there was a penalty for ionion. Ilie Surugiu stepped forward and shot the ball to the right of a diving Silas de Andrade. 1-1. Dário Prada could have scored with his fast shot on goal in the 21st minute of the match, but Fabio Abalos made a huge save. In the 23rd minute Los Hornos were awarded a corner. Justino Amato went to the cornerflag to take it. With a little luck, ionion's Fabio Abalos got control of the ball when Dário Prada tried to sneak it across the goal line. When the match had gone on for 28 minutes, Dário Prada took a quick shot and it went in 2-1 without a chance for Fabio Abalos to make any attempt to save it. Dário Prada could have scored with his fast shot on goal in the 31st minute of the match, but Fabio Abalos made a huge save. Silas de Andrade took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Marijan Ojdanić, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. 34 minutes into the match, ionion's goalkeeper Fabio Abalos had to clear away a ball on his right side after a cunning shot by Dário Prada. Los Hornos's Silas de Andrade played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Ilie Surugiu in the 37th minute of play. Marijan Ojdanić scored 2-2 in the 39th match minute with a shot that went into the goal to the right of Silas de Andrade, who was just a little too slow in reacting to the shot. Fabio Abalos showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Dário Prada, who was totally free with the ball in the 45th minute. The first half was very even, with the score at 2-2 when the whistle went for half-time. The players welcomed the break and quickly retired to the dressing rooms.

Dário Prada's shot was meant for the net just under the crossbar, but Fabio Abalos read the situation well and was quickly in position to make a wonderful save in the 58th minute of play. Lucas Staff hit a great freekick 62 minutes into the match. Fabio Abalos showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Dário Prada in the 65th minute of the match. Ilie Surugiu might have been able to make a better finish in the 72nd minute when he tried to place a hard shot over Silas de Andrade. Instead the ball went over the crossbar and out. Ilie Surugiu ran back to his position shaking his head. Gene Simmons kicked well hit freekick during the 73rd minute of the match. Fabio Abalos showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Dário Prada in the 75th minute of the match. ionion's Fabio Abalos played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Dário Prada in the 77th minute of play. Niculae Moisescu sent away a hard shot on goal in the 78th minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. 84 minutes into the match, ionion's goal looked a bit too open when Dário Prada came free, but Fabio Abalos reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. The referee blew his whistle, and the match came to a close. The players exchanged shirts and headed down the tunnel. The Los Hornos fans cheered their team off the field, for while ionion had put up a good fight, they were unable to come out of the game with any points to show for their effort.
