Seating: 2369, VIP seats: 206) U21 Portugal's Ivaylo Yordanov started the match with a crisp pass. The crowd had been anticipating this game for weeks and the excitement in the stadium was easily visible. Chinto Espinoza showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Ivaylo Yordanov in the 6th minute of the match. In the 8th minute Ivaylo Yordanov shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Chinto Espinoza saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. 12 minutes into the game, Franco Lavin was given a yellow card after he appeared to trip an opposing player. U21 Ecuador's manager was livid on the sidelines, but the referee was unmoved and gave U21 Portugal the free kick. Franco Lavin hit a great freekick 12 minutes into the match. In the 13th minute, Ivaylo Yordanov left the goalkeeper for dead before tapping the ball into the right side of the net. The U21 Portugal fans were clearly happy with the effort and the scoreboard reflected the new score: 0-1. Isidoro Vilarinho's late challenge caught a U21 Ecuador's player on the shin and left him crawling around in pain. The referee blew his whistle and produced the yellow card. Isidoro Vilarinho helped the player get up and apologised. The supporters of U21 Ecuador booed when U21 Portugal was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 16 match minutes in a wonderful position. Isidoro Vilarinho didn't get a good kick on the ball. 18 minutes into the match, U21 Portugal's goalkeeper Antero Linhares had to clear away a ball on his right side after a cunning shot by Patricio Lloret. Ivaylo Yordanov fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 19th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Chinto Espinoza having to interfere. After having played for 21 minutes, Sotomayor Pendones managed to get in a good position for a shot on goal. U21 Ecuador's supporters crossed their fingers, but Sotomayor Pendones was, after a quick turn that froze the defenders, out of balance and shot the ball just to the right of the goal. U21 Ecuador's Chinto Espinoza played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Ivaylo Yordanov in the 23rd minute of play. Chinto Espinoza came out of the goal in the 31st minute to try and stop a shot by U21 Portugal's Ivaylo Yordanov. But to his dismay, Ivaylo Yordanov quickly shot the ball in between his legs and into the goal making it 0-2. After some careless play in the U21 Ecuador defense, Ivaylo Yordanov kicked a shot that curved into the net to the right of Chinto Espinoza. The U21 Ecuador fans voiced their displeasure as they felt that Chinto Espinoza should have stopped the shot. After a rather tough play, U21 Ecuador's Delgado Larrinoa got a free kick in the 37th minute. Chinto Espinoza showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Ivaylo Yordanov in the 41st minute of the match. In the 45th minute, Jesús Trindade hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. Normando Macena, 46 minutes into the match, dribbled the ball up the side of the field and decided to take a long shot at the goal. Unfortunately, the ball was poorly hit and landed closer to the corner than to the goal. The U21 Ecuador players were disheartened as they walked off the pitch after the first half. U21 Portugal were winning 0-3.
Ivaylo Yordanov could have scored with his fast shot on goal in the 54th minute of the match, but Chinto Espinoza made a huge save. Chinto Espinoza showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Machado Assis in the 55th minute of the match. Vachon Secada made in the 56th minute of the game a throw-in that took a bad bounce and was taken care of by U21 Portugal's Emanuel Mourinho. Ivaylo Yordanov's late challenge caught a U21 Ecuador's player on the shin and left him crawling around in pain. The referee blew his whistle and produced the yellow card. Ivaylo Yordanov helped the player get up and apologised. The supporters of U21 Ecuador booed when U21 Portugal was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 59 match minutes in a wonderful position. Ivaylo Yordanov didn't get a good kick on the ball. If Machado Assis had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 63rd minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. Antero Linhares showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Sebastian de la Rosa, who was totally free with the ball in the 70th minute. In the 72nd match minute, U21 Ecuador was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Gustavo Lloret to maneuver through the defense. 73 minutes into the match, U21 Portugal's Ivaylo Yordanov sent off a blazing shot straight on target, a shot that Chinto Espinoza narrowly saved just below the crossbar. Chinto Espinoza made a fantastic save in the 75th minute, when Ivaylo Yordanov sent off a good shot on target. In the 81st minute Delgado Larrinoa shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Antero Linhares saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. In the 83rdth minute of the game Sebastian de la Rosa who was perfectly placed tried to make a shot on goal, but U21 Portugal's Antero Linhares was lucky and managed to grab hold of the ball. After 84 played minutes U21 Ecuador got a freekick which was hit by Delgado Larrinoa. U21 Portugal made a substitution. Ricardo Vasques replaced Moisés Álvares. Delgado Larrinoa hit a great freekick 86 minutes into the match. Machado Assis charged in rather forcefully in the 87th minute of the match, and managed to knock his opponent down. The referee showed Machado Assis the yellow card, and asked the players to shake hands before continuing play. A collision led to U21 Portugal getting a freekick after 87 minutes play. Machado Assis hit a great ball. Chinto Espinoza made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Xavier Carvalhal in the 90th minute of play. An unexpectedly hard shot by Xavier Carvalhal in the 95th minute of play forced U21 Ecuador's goalkeeper Chinto Espinoza to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. U21 Portugal played a much better game than U21 Ecuador and deserved their victory. The U21 Ecuador players were clearly disappointed as they left the ground.
