Spectators: 165 (Terracing: 124, Seating: 38, VIP seats: 3) The sun was shining, the grass was green and the audience cheered when Don Malbec got the match started through his kick off. An unexpectedly hard shot by Kerry McDonald in the 6th minute of play forced Charlotte FC's goalkeeper Bryant Miles to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. Charlotte FC were awarded a corner in the 14th minute after Western Springs FC's defender lost control of the ball, allowing it to roll out over the line. Kaja Jamak took the corner. Charlotte FC's Kaja Jamak was first on the ball when the corner was shot and he dangerously headed the ball towards goal, but Hal Mackey in the goal jumped up to prevent it from getting in. After 15 played minutes Western Springs FC got a freekick which was hit by Colby Saucedo. An unexpectedly hard shot by Don Malbec in the 19th minute of play forced Western Springs FC's goalkeeper Hal Mackey to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. Hal Mackey took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Don Malbec, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. With a couple of smart ball manuevers Don Malbec in the 31st managed to get into a good position. With a left leg Hal Mackey saved Western Springs FC from getting behind. Western Springs FC's Hal Mackey played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Don Malbec in the 33rd minute of play. Don Malbec fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 36th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Hal Mackey having to interfere. Don Malbec blasted a shot towards the goal in the 40th minute, but the shot hit the top of the crossbar and went out without Hal Mackey having to make a save. Frankie Russell kicked well hit freekick during the 41st minute of the match. Hal Mackey didn't have a chance when a screaming shot from Don Malbec went, in the 42nd minute, to the upper right corner, 0-1 was the resulting score. Bryant Miles showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Kerry McDonald, who was totally free with the ball in the 45th minute. In the 47thth minute of the game Don Malbec who was perfectly placed tried to make a shot on goal, but Western Springs FC's Hal Mackey was lucky and managed to grab hold of the ball. After 49 minutes Western Springs FC's defender was forced to head the ball over the line for a corner. It was Kaja Jamak who took care of the corner kick. The corner ended in Francesco Keller almost managing to get the ball behind the net, but Western Springs FC's Hal Mackey did a great save. The crowd was extremely unhappy with the home team's performance in the first half. They were losing 0-1.

The players of the home team were most fresh-looking when they entered the field to play the second half. Emmanuel Corley was the one to do the kick off. Hal Mackey took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Don Malbec, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. Hal Mackey showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Don Malbec in the 58th minute of the match. With a couple of smart ball manuevers Kerry McDonald in the 60th managed to get into a good position. With a left leg Bryant Miles saved Charlotte FC from getting behind. Western Springs FC's Hal Mackey played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Don Malbec in the 64th minute of play. In the 66th minute of the game Jesus Bocanegra made a throw-in which Garry Conn played forward. The supporters of Charlotte FC booed when Western Springs FC was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 71 match minutes in a wonderful position. Colby Saucedo didn't get a good kick on the ball. When Charlotte FC's Don Malbec in the 79th minute got a chance for a shot 79th didn't hesitate and placed the ball to the right of the goalie. A beautiful save bye Western Springs FC's goalie prevented a goal. Bryant Miles took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Emmanuel Corley, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. Charlotte FC's Wander Suzanne was substituted for Braulio Hitz. 83 minutes in the game Colby Saucedo did a throw-in, and the ball was quickly in game thanks to Marty Hanley. In the 85th minute of the match, Vicente Rafferty tried to roll the ball into the goal by the right post, but Hal Mackey saw his intentions and got control of the ball before it passed the line. Vicente Rafferty blasted a shot towards the goal in the 87th minute, but the shot hit the top of the crossbar and went out without Hal Mackey having to make a save. The audience thought a goal was coming when Vicente Rafferty got free with Hal Mackey in the 92nd minute, but the goalkeeper managed to catch the ball with a huge effort. Vicente Rafferty might have been able to make a better finish in the 95th minute when he tried to place a hard shot over Hal Mackey. Instead the ball went over the crossbar and out. Vicente Rafferty ran back to his position shaking his head. A collision led to Western Springs FC getting a freekick after 96 minutes play. Frankie Russell hit a great ball. After 97 played minutes Western Springs FC got a freekick which was hit by Frankie Russell. The Charlotte FC supporters could be heard counting down the last seconds of the match. They errupted in celebration when the whistle blew, knowing Charlotte FC would go home with victory in their luggage after a match that easily could have ended differently.
