Guilherme Veiga yelled at his defense, as they had left him out to dry. 1-0. The supporters of Racing Miami Futbol Club booed when Santos FC was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 11 match minutes in a wonderful position. Lanny Gilmore didn't get a good kick on the ball. Sol Bartlett hit a great freekick 17 minutes into the match. 18 minutes into the match, Santos FC's Warren Ruiz sent off a blazing shot straight on target, a shot that Guilherme Veiga narrowly saved just below the crossbar. A collision led to Santos FC getting a freekick after 19 minutes play. A fine initiative that could have resulted in a goal. Trey Echols's shot was meant for the net just under the crossbar, but Aaron Smallwood read the situation well and was quickly in position to make a wonderful save in the 23rd minute of play. Lanny Gilmore blasted a shot towards the goal in the 30th minute, but the shot hit the top of the crossbar and went out without Guilherme Veiga having to make a save. Lanny Gilmore might have been able to make a better finish in the 33rd minute when he tried to place a hard shot over Guilherme Veiga. Instead the ball went over the crossbar and out. Racing Miami Futbol Club's Guilherme Veiga played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Lanny Gilmore in the 33rd minute of play. Aaron Smallwood showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Trey Echols, who was totally free with the ball in the 35th minute. When the match had gone on for 47 minutes, Tyron Velasquez took a quick shot and it went in 2-0 without a chance for Guilherme Veiga to make any attempt to save it. Racing Miami Futbol Club's Rodney Hagen was substituted for Trey Echols.

Larry Cermak's shot straight on target was not completely harmless. The ball had pretty good speed, but Aaron Smallwood firmly grabbed it by the left post.
